I want to give Jermaine O'Neal more time to show what level of performance he can truly give. He is still my first preference at center if he can give a solid defensive performance.

If after 12-15 games, JO hasn't given a good enough account of himself to hold onto the starter's position, then yes, Chris Wilcox would be my first choice replacement.
agree
then i'd be considering kg at center and bass at starting pf instead of wilcox, bass is a rebounder of the first degree, kg can make up for his defensive shortcomings, this would leave a nice second unit
marquis, jermaine, pietrus, wilcox, dooling

I like the idea. I think getting one more guy in the starting lineup that can actually run the floor with Rondo would be great and allow us to use rondo more to his skillset.

Bring Oneal in with Bass as a second unit, with the young guy in the mix when and where needed.

I think this will make us a more effiecient offensive team, and hell the defense cant get any worse, plus our bench would get a veteran.

I diden't mention how Oneal would feel because I dont care. Hes paid to play when the hell ever Doc tells him to play.

Plus having other vets around to help keep him sane will help.

I think I'd rather have Jermaine O'Neal be a starter who only plays 15mpg than have him come off the bench.

As long as Wilcox gets some minutes with Rondo and/or Pierce.  He needs to get shot attempts to maximize his value and he requires higher level play-making than the bench has to offer.

I know he's 6-10 But he's a better rebounder and scorer than oneal is right now anything is worth a try @ the moment

I don't know.  Defense is our biggest problem right now, and Wilcox is a poor defender.
Repeat with me: Chris Wilcox is. Not. That. Good.

up until last night, JO was looking worse than simply "not that good."

i think wilcox has the potential to be a very solid part of the big man rotation for 15-20 minutes a night.

However bad you think O'Neal is, Wilcox is worse. That's it.

Wilcox is horrible defensively (especially at center... especially against starters). Makes no sense with the starting line-up when he'd have even less shooting opportunities.

Wilcox is still injured isn't he? I like how Stiesma is playing now that Wilcox is injured, he may have his minutes improved by the way he plays defense

not sure where you are getting that opinion from...Wilcox is not a bad player...hes got a pretty decent post-game and can rebound the ball well..once he gets more playing time I think hes going to be a nice part of the big man rotation

Shooting opportunities for bigs like Wilcox are more abundant when playing the playmakers like Rondo and to lesser extent Pierce, as opposed to more limited guards like Dooling and Daniels.

I don't want it to seem like I'm beating a dead horse but Doc will not give in to such ideas. We have 3 starters ripe enough to make wine. I don't see Doc having the guts to tell JO he's grounded to the 2nd squad. He would have the excuse they broke down, not his fault for failure.
