I do not think that Spoelstra or Dantoni either are great coaches.  I think they are both only as good as their players types.

The Knicks are a point guard and coach away from being a contender.

Melo has never shown that he has the ability to play as a team-mate and not a volume scorer. Until he shows the ability to play otherwise, the Knicks have an uproad battle to meshing.
This.

Too bad they couldn't get CP3 instead of Melo.

If they had gotten CP3 instead of Melo I imagine we'd be saying 'the Knicks are one elite wing scorer away from being a contender.'

The bottom line is they aren't a complete team yet.

I don't know about that, the difference between CP3 and Melo is a large one.

they had a pretty good PG in billups and still were a dysfunctional unit..

the problem is that once the ball touches Melo's hands it doesnt leave...stoudemire is one of the best PF's in the game and hes getting 11shots a game??

its no coincidence the team played better/more cohesive before the melo trade...that team preached ball movement

until melo learns to play unselfishly and d'antoni preaches defense I see them as Denver Nuggets of the East

Only so many balls to go around, I think we would have smoked them with PP healthy.

problem is, Carmelo hogs the ball a lot, hes great on offense but he never really passes the ball

you can see Amar'es offense struggled a bit when Melo got there. Tyson makes their defense better. Adding Baron Davis didn't do anything its not like hes going to make much of a difference.

Carmelo is more of a one man team than Lebron, the game on Xmas, they got lucky, how often will Melo score 30+ pts and make all those impossible shots...

And as talented as Amare is, he sure doesn't get as much rebound, Tyson being there kinda covers that weakness a bit.

I still take the Celtics over the Knicks in the playoffs

This is simply a team with no depth. If your options off the bench are a second round rookie, Jared Jeffries, Renaldo Balkman, Bill Walker and Mike Bibby, you just aren't going to win many games.

yeah, when Melo has the ball in his hands so much there's no excuse to average only 3 assists per game.  you look at other top wings (LeBron, Durant, Kobe, Wade etc) and they all average around 5 assists or more.

I doubt he would come or the players  ::) actually listen (carmelo) but hire jerry sloan and have mgt sit down with anthony and tell him to listen to his coach about defense and work ethic.
then this would be a team to watch
