Too early to be concerned the backup PG is averaging 1 assist per game?

The answer is probably yes, it is too early, and hopefully this will improve when Dooling gets more comfortable with his teammates. However, just another area of concern to keep an eye on.

as long as he keeps shooting the 3 like he does,  i dont mind.
 
he was +12 last night..... thats +11 more than the 2nd best +/-

I think its too early to say, but its not like Dooling has ever been a high assist player I don't expect him to get more than between 2 - 3 assists per game if we play him around 18-20 mpg.

Given that the startng PG played 40+ minutes, the backup combo guard probably spent most of his time on the floor playing off the ball. Not a concern, really.

Makes sense. Did not even think of this and forgot that Rondo has been on the floor for most of the first three games. Never mind.

Let's just be thankful that he is making his shots.

This is about as good as it gets with Dooling.

Well, I would argue that Daniels is really our backup PG, and he is averaging 2.3 assists per game.

I think it is rare that Dooling is the guy running the offense.  He is mostly in there for defense and shooting...which he has been a bit of a revelation at.

Yeah, we've used a lot of Rondo-Dooling-Ray Allen lineups the first three games, mostly due to necessity.

In any case, Dooling is not a big assists guy regardless. I don't envision him being good for more than 2-3 per game.

Dooling is playing PG for the 5-8 minutes a game Rondo is out.  The rest of his minutes are at the 2.  I'd expect very low assist #s from him if that continues to be his role.

And we're probably better off this way.  Dooling looks about as savvy as Ray Allen as a playmaker.

Danny has signed shooting guards in point guard bodies, pretending to have a backup PG.  I wouldn't classify Dooling, Bradley nor Moore as PG's...

And then it appears that Daniels plays a "point forward" role, but it's no wonder the 2nd unit plays different from the starters because they are a differently structured unit.

It's like this roster was thrown in a blender when it was being constructed...

Well, he appears to be the best scorer in the second unit so I can't see expecting much more from him assist-wise

 It could be worse, a lot of teams start players like that.

Dooling's averaging 11 points a game off the bench on a team that is struggling to find offense... Its amazing how many negative curmudgeons come out of the woodwork after 3 games. Plus, most of the time he has been playing alongside Rondo anyway.

Where was I negative? I pointed out a statistic and wondered if it is something to be worried about. I also noted that it may be too early in the season, but it is something to watch. Sensitive much?
