Offense has been a concern for a few years now.  Seems that flaw is more obvious now that our defense has slipped since the Perk trade.

KG isn't physical and really doesn't play as well unless he has a big body next to him like he did with Perk and for a short period with Shaq.  Shaq absolutely hammered guys who attacked the rim.  He fouled most of the time but he was intimidating.

KG's post game looks really pathetic too. He catches way too far out and is getting out muscled by guys smaller than him.  He is very content taking the 15 footer..

At the present moment we have zero inside presence.  We rely heavily on jump shots from KG, Pierce and now it seems Bass.  We don't get any easy looks unless Rondo penetrates.  I just don't see much hope in this getting better with the roster as it is currently constructed.  Seems we have to find some kind of interior presence and the only one that makes any sense is Al Jefferson as there is a log jam of young bigs on that team and he is slightly overpaid. It would seriously affect our cap space and cost some picks but if we are serious about this year it would help

Defensively he isn't great but he has the physical ability and maybe being on the Celts would help him there.. Having him inside would allow KG to be on the perimeter where he very clearly wants to be..

I think we need to either make a play for him or someone of that ilk if not it is honestly better to blow it up as right now I think we would be a 5-8 seed with zero chance of getting past the 2nd round.   

KG always relied on his hops to rebound as he isn't good at bodying up.  Same with JO.  Problem is both jump as High as big baby now.  rebounding and scoring in the paint is going to be the end of this team.  Unless that is addressed we are toast.   

I know this is early but this has been an issue since last year.

Only positive tonight was Steimsma looks to be a great backup defensive center.  He made NO's players think twice after they blew by Allen or Rondo..

Any thoughts as I'm really concerned about this team.  Jumpers aren't going to be enough they need easier looks...

ray, pietrus, and pierce will spread the floor and open the lane for bass, kg, wilcox, and rondo. dont worry about it.

Getting Pierce and Pietrus will certainly help with spreading the floor and getting some more offense from the outside.  Ray and Dooling are the only guys right now giving us any offense from outside.  The only other reliable shooter on the floor at any point is Bass, and his range only extends so far.  So Pierce and Pietrus will certainly help a lot.

But you're right, a big part of the problem is that the C's have no inside presence at all.  KG is a shell of his former self and JO is a non-factor on the offensive end.  Neither KG nor JO finishes inside unless left wide open.

Sure I agree with that.  But we still have no inside presence and relying on jumpers with an older team with many back to backs is a recipe for disaster.  First thing to go is the legs which are essential for a jumper..

i think for the most part you are spot on, although I think KG is gonna look better in coming games.  that said, offense has been a problem for a long time, even when we have pierce back i don't see it getting that much better.

i don't know what the realistic options are, though.. i know it's been said, but this was supposed to be what jeff green was going to give us off the bench. man are we going to miss him.

pierce is our only player that can score in the halfcourt. he will help us ALOT!. this should take some pressure off of ray allen and kg to get their offense going. 0-3 start just shows how good paul pierce realy is.

I think Pierce and Pietrus will help.  Both will add some scoring.  PP is vastly superior to Daniels or Sasha.   Pietrus will add another scoring.  Pierce too can post up peeps.  Right now we are a team of jump shooters and if they are not falling and they were not last night, then we will lose.

We shot .37% from FG range and we deserved to lose shooting like that.  That is great in baseball but it doesn't cut the mustard in basketball.

One of Pierce / Rondo needs to be on the floor at all times.

Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett do not look good enough creating their own shots to keep the bench's offense alive out there while Rondo rests. Needs Pierce or Rondo.

I think Pierce IS the answer.

Too many jump shots last night.

Here's a fun stat - the only forwards/centers to TAKE free throws last night were Bass (4) and JJ (2).  That is UNACCEPTABLE.  The starting unit took a total of 5, with 4 belonging to Rondo.

We need Paul Pierce to run an effective and versatile offense. End of story.

Well, as others have said, not only will Pierce and Pietrus help from a talent perspective, they also provide us with two more perimeter threats, something we're sorely missing right now. 

As I said in another post, while Pierce might not solve all problems, I think he solves more than people might think.  I think some people are imagining what Pierce would've done if he was in Sasha's position.  However, the point is that he wouldn't have been in Sasha's position.  With PP out there, defenses would react differently and things would open up for others. 

We need him back ASAP.

The one thing I think PP's absence had unquestionably proven is that if this team has any title hopes, it needs to 100% healthy come playoff time.

It's always a few points here and there. Then we start missing shots and instead of going for the board, we try and set up defense. I wish we were a better rebounding team cause at least we wouldn't be giving up those points.

Zero inside game. Kg & Jo were pathetic and embrassing last night. That blonde kid saved us from total disaster. 37% doesn't beat anybody.   The Celtics made N.O.'s very average at best center play play like an allstar

I feel sorry for Rondo....other than Bass ...nobody else can hit a shot inside the paint. How do you set up a play for guys who can't jump or play or run the court . ::)  

PP will help the "O" for sure with his shooting ability.....but the paint is just wide open ...

SOmebody has to defend /block out and fight inside for a few balls..

Hard to do when some of are players are brittle. One bad dive and they are out for six to eight weeks.
