We currently have 13 on the roster by my count, who do you think will be the two extra players? We need a player who can play the 2/3 and the 5.

My guess is Joel Pryzbillia and James Posey.

Should be 14, the roster was set as of yesterday - the D-League center seems to be making the roster.

I'd vote for Al Thornton at the 3, Quisy and Moore at the 2, and Dooling at PG.

Bass starts at PF, with Wilcox backing him up platoon-style.

KG starts at C, with JO backing him up, platoon-style.

I think a backup front line of Thornton, Wilcox, and JO can score and rebound well, and surprise defensively.

With Quisy and Dooling defending the guards and moving the ball as well, I think we have a strong 2nd unit.

A third unit involving rookies like Moore, J3, and near-rookies like Bradley coupled with savy vet role players could make for an unusually useful 3rd string that could actually see some action this season.

We're okay.

What's the latest on Thornton? I'm surprised neither him nor Stevenson have been picked up yet. Al hasn't been great lately, but didn't exactly get the best opportunity in GS. I think he'd fit in nicely in JG's spot. He's athletic, can score, and finish strong at the rim.

I would not be disappointed if Stiemsma and Gilbert Brown ended up on the 15-man roster to start the season.

My vote would be for Al Thornton as well, if we can get him to come on board for a one year minimum deal.

I don't think Cs will be able to offer enough for Stevenson or Thornton.

We've got to be thinking about possible vet min type players -- Posey, Murphy, Pryzbilla, etc.

We've got to be thinking about possible vet min type players -- Posey, Murphy, Pryzbilla, etc.

honestly, id rather gamble on undrafted free agents / D-leaguers than try relying on one-foot-in-the-grave types like Pryz and Posey.

we need to follow the spurs' example and try to find overlooked guys like Gary Neal to become key contributors and perhaps long-term pieces. trotting out fragile fossils hasn't us gotten anywhere in the past couple of years.

One spot open-hopefully for Gilbert Brown. Think he could surprise. Might even get some quality time with all the injuries, as I believe PP is going to miss quite a bit of time. Heel injuries are almost always bad news. A deep bone bruise would be about the best possibility, and even that is a rather long healing process, especially for an athlete who is jumping up and down on it constantly. Paul is a gutsy guy, so I think he'll try to come back and play on it but be nothing like himself.
Someone said JO had a strained abdominal muscle, and that's not good either. Hopefully the report was incorrect and it's nothing serious, otherwise I'd look for him to be out awhile too. With JG gone it's looking rather bleak.
Don't expect any help from Stern. He'll rule worst case senario for C's.
I'm still looking forward to seeing our young guys play and develop. Maybe an unexpected surprise or two. That would be great!
I think we'll be teetering on the edge of the lottery, though, and that's probably not all bad, everything considered.

I fully expect Stern to not help us in any way. However, he did put the kibosh on Paul to the Lakers trade so you never know.
