with jeff green out, I think we have to switch Brandon bass to be "the guy" on the bench and in small ball situations. I wonder if he can play any sf.

lets not forget that the guy was a double digit scorer last year with 11.2ppg in 26minutes and that is next to d.howard with jameer nelson passing him the ball.

kid is a scorer..I think hes going to replace BBD and more as our 6th type man this year

I can't possibly imagine Bass is even a remote option at SF.

He's not a shot creator. He can pop and roll and finish around the basket.

Chris Wilcox is a better post-up player if you want to run the offense through a big.

well I mean being the scoring 6th man option off the bench. thats what Green was supposed to be. someone who could lighten the load for the big 3 with his scoring

I think his game is similar to P.J Brown's when he was here...obviously more athletic due to the age difference...however, I would take a flyer on James Posey. I think being in a winning situation (hes been in NO and IND the last few years) and being put in the right role with the right coach that knows his tendencies would serve him very well.

Brandon Bass is going to be a slight upgrade from BBD in my opinion. He is not going to give the Celts huge points off the bench and he can never play small forward.

I tend to agree that Bass is not a scorer. He's much more of a weakside scorer like Posey was who knocks down the open jumper.

However there are a few options we do have:

1) Marquis is a capable scorer who can create his own shot off the dribble and post up. If healthy, he can help fill the void.

2) Bradley had a reputation for filling it up coming out of college. He apparently looked bad I last night's scrimmage, but if he can blow up at the 2, we could be in good shape.

3) Wilcox is a more capable scorer than people give him credit for. And if henplays with Rondo, could get some of the fastbreak points that Green would've gotten by beating opposing bigs down the court.

id like to see more Moore at the backup 2...I thought he looked good last night, comfortable in the offense and could rain it from 3...he could be a landry fields type player for us imo

Moore can shoot the lights out no doubt about it. But I'd like to see what else he can bring to the table in competitive play. Is he one dimensional or is he good enough to be an NBA pro?

If Bass is our go to guy off the bench we are in big trouble. He's more of a hardnosed hustling type player in the paint who really works to get his points; he is not a finesse guy who can take it to hole strong and finish cleanly (pretty much the difference between a starter and a career bench guy). He is a good shooter from 10-12 feet and I think that is probably his best strength offensively.

If they're reasonably healthy, a bench of Wilcox/Bass/Daniels/Dooling seems like it could be much better than what we had off the bench last year.

Without a doubt. Many on here thought that Big Baby was "the guy" off our bench the last season or so, and Bass is very similar in style of play except he can hit the outside shots he takes and also finish at the rim.

We also have a healthy Marquis who can come in and score with his great mid range shooting. His above average underrated defense will be a plus. I also think Sasha has gotten a bad rap and is a good offensive player in the right situation. Hopefully the combo of the three can fill the gap. We can go big with Bass and smaller with Marquis.
