I think they sold us damaged goods. There is no way they were not aware of this problem. Of course because this always happens to the Celtics, we will not get squat from the league.

Keep in mind that the Celtics missed it on his physical after the trade, as well.

An aortic aneurysm is a severely life threatening condition.

There is NO WAY that doctors who may have detected it for OKC, the OKC team AND Jeff Green himself would try to hide this.

The downside of hiding it is way too huge:

For the doctors: huge probably career ending malpractice and license suspension or revocation as well as criminal prosecution.

OKC: Stern would have given them the NBA death penalty.

Green: Death

No way anybody knew about this!!

I don't think anyone knew of his condition. Thunder offered him a lucrative contract extension, which he turned down. Then they shipped him.

I wondered this, but only for a second. I don't think there is any way that OKC knew about this. This is a serious medical issue, and Green would have had to have been made aware of it immediately if it turned up in OKC.

One would have to assume that Green didn't know or he probably wouldn't have been playing. I think it's hard to believe that they'd withhold information like that from a player and put him on the court in a situation like that, or even trade him to another team and watch him play for them. Forget about never being part of the nba again, the people involved (including the doctors) could probably end up in prison for that.

so ur saying the thunder knew and the celtics and green himself didn't know.  i HIGHLY doubt it.  you think green would continue to play knowing he had a serious condition......again, i HIGHLY doubt it.

truth is, it is bad luck.  its no one's fault, so stop trying to point the finger at someone

Seriously, some of you are way over the top.  I can see it now:

OKC:  the guy might die, but it will be a good trade for us.

Yeah, thats what happened.

They knew as much as they were hoping they'd get a healthy center in return who produced in the playoffs. And then drops weight so he doesn't look like a center
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

It might have recently developed as well who knows.

I do not care about any conspiracies or anything of that sort.

I only hope that Jeff Green has a successful surgery and can have a full recovery and continue living an active life.

I find your comment very insensitive to the real issue here, which is the health of a real, live human being. No upstanding organization would detect a health issue like this in one of its employees and allow it to continue without proper medical treatment/clearance, and there is no way JG knew about this, either.  This is much, much, larger than the Boston Celtics.  Have some social tact, man, wow.

Yeah, thats what happened.

And even if you think OKC management is that evil, does anyone seriously believe the doctors who would have had to uncover this would have sacrificed all professional integrity, risked their entire careers, and opened themselves up to a massive lawsuit and possibly criminal charges by participating in the coverup?

Like most conspiracy theories, it's only even vaguely plausible if you don't think it through at all.
