  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Pierce, exactly 5 minutes in:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiqeRf1QuVQ&feature=player_embedded

"We have a lot more experience off the bench, a lot more veteran guys.I thought a year ago, we had a lot of immaturity with our bench roster, you know they brought..inconsistent play with them...and I think these guys are a lot more experienced and bring a lot more professionalism with them..and I think they're gonna be great"

I mean it's gotta be a parting shot at Big Baby right?
Who else is he talking about? I doubt Delonte, possibly and Von Wafer?

I've always stuck up for Baby on these boards and felt he was scapegoat for a lot of our problems. I mean I never thought he'd get 24 million like he did, but losing Baby and Wafer could be a real benefit for our team's mentality.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Remember we had Nate for over half the season as well, and Erden was in there for a bit as well.

But I think the brunt of this statement was directed at Baby.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

  • Rondo = Good
we relied on erden, harangody, nate, and glen davis a lot last year.

not a surprising statement at all.

Erden and Bradley and Gody were short on experience.  Nate and Wafer and Baby in maturity, possibly Delonte a bit too.  Danny was clearly going for professionalism in his new bench crop.  (And maturity in his new rookies.)

I don't know why anyone is surprised by this or it probably being directed at Davis.

This is the guy who was seen ****ing/pouting because he fouled out of a game while his team was celebrating a big win.  This is the guy who got into a fight with a friend, broke his hand and cost his team his services for half a season.  This is a guy who on the court was obviously out to get his.

He always came across to me as a guy who had an agenda that was separate to the teams agenda.  He had some shining moment in green but he also had some very low moments that to me showed his selfishness and immaturity big-time.

Baby, Von, Erden, Harangody, Wafer, Bradley...

They now have Daniels, Green, Bass, Wilcox, Dooling, and Pavlovic.

Daniels and Pavlovic have started in teams that were in the Finals. Bass was a starter on a playoff team, Dooling has been a starter, and Wilcox in an experienced NBA player itching for his first Playoff action.

The skill might not appear as high as years past, but there's heart on this bench and there are players that will fight for each other.

Hell even the rookies played in college for 4 years and are two of the winningest players in NCAA history.

Not to mention the new found maturity out of Rondo so far.

Pierce used the word Immaturity, and not Inexperience.  There's a big difference.

It seems this is almost entirely directed at Glen Davis, though I wouldn't be surprised if some Delonte/Nate had some contributions.

Is anyone legitimately surprised that Glen Davis is considered immature?  I'm very thankful he is no longer on this team.

Had either O'Neal showed up in shape Davis wouldn't have had to get so many minutes beyond what his role should have been.  Which was pretty much the role he had when he helped us to a championship.  Wafer was an end of the bench practice player.

I hope Rivers' penchant for classless parting cheapshots at former players isn't rubbing off on Pierce.

Definitely a shot at Baby and Nate, in my opinion.

For those who are saying it could be a shot at Nate, I don't think so. Paul was always in the mix with Nate doing silly stuff, recording video and whatnot, so it would be hypocritical of Paul to take a shot like that. But what the heck do I know  :P

I think this was mainly a jab at Baby.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I think if it is a 'parting shot', its pretty small, and not worth stirring the pot over.

Seems like Pierce is praising the experience of the new guys to give them confidence, rather than knocking the old guard.

You guys are forgetting the biggest one of all:  Shaq.

Heard this sentiment a couple of days ago.  And while there was some back tracking when it came to Shaq, he clearly played a role in egging on guys like Nate and BBD.  Delonte was another story altogether while I have heard no mention of Wafer at all.
