So I guess we can eliminate Kwame Brown as a candidate for that "one more big" position Danny maybe looking for

Big men in the NBA get overpaid ALOT.

I mean ALOT.

I am going to teach my kids to be really tall when they grow up.

Now doesn't that put Chris Wilcox's signing into perspective?

It's a no-brainer for me. Chris Wilcox's contract is a bargain compared to Kwame Brown.

It puts the Perkins trade into perspective too.

Not surprising at all.  If the amount surprises you, then you are really bad at assessing what players are worth in the free agent market and none of the best guys you think will be available for the minimum salary are going to be paid the minimum.

EDIT: You are allowed to be surprised that the Warriors were smart enough to only sign him for one year.

Nice deal for Golden State.  I like this mini-trend of less years, greater money.  Allows players to cash in without crippling roster flexibility.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Let's compare the two from last season

Kwame Brown (Height: 6-11 Age: 29)
2010-2011 MPG : 26.0 PPG: 7.9 TRB: 6.8 BLK: 0.6 (2012 Salary: $7M)

Chris Wilcox (Height: 6-10 Age: 29)
2010-2011 MPG: 17.5  PPG: 7.4 TRB: 4.8 BLK: 0.3 (2012 Salary: $3M)

Gotta like the comparable value on the Wilcox signing.

Yo, I was and am favor of the Jeff Green trade, but yea....Perkins is worth 16 - 17 million per season if Kwame is worth 7.

Now, maybe there is no team willing to give Kwame a multi year deal at 7 mill per, but jeez for even one season.....

Perkins is also worth more and deserves more than Chandler.

But Perkins injury history handicaps him and Chandler winning a ring kinda mythically elevates him.

Obviously there will be extenuating circumstances, but for a situation like this, what exactly is the "short contract premium?" In other words, would Brown have signed for 2/10 or 3/12 but not 1/6? so they needed to bump to 1/7 to avoid more guaranteed years?

Same here in terms of the trend you mentioned.  I only say nice deal b/c of the future flexibility and the fact that there's not much left they could get and need some bodies.  Not going to be worth that money though.

Brown is basically a defensive specialist.

Wilcox is a defensive sieve.

Brown is a better player and it's not close. That's why he got a much larger contract.
