Rondo/Dooling/Bradley
Allen/Daniels/Moore
Pierce/Green/Pavlovic
Garnett/Bass/Johnson
O'Neal/Wilcox/Stiemsa

The roster's at 15 right now, and I've got to say that I'm fairly satisfied with it.

Does anyone think Danny's done for now?  Maybe he'll back off and let Doc get these guys through training camp together and form a team and call it good.

The only thing I'd still like to see is for Danny to use that mini-MLE on a center who's an upgrade on Stiemsa.  If he can find one at that price who he can slip in front of Wilcox in the rotation that would be brilliant.

Otherwise, I'm happy and can't wait to see my Celtics play again.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I doubt Stiemsma makes it through camp. What were the terms of his contract? I was under the impression he's a camp invite.

Moi aussi.

I'm hoping Danny goes with the BPA and convinces Murphy to try again for one year on the mini-MLE.  Not that we need another PF - although a healthy Murphy would be useful - but because I wouldn't want to waste the mini-MLE.  If nothing else, he'd be useful as trade bait/filler around midseason.  If he regained the shooting form he's displayed for most of his career he could start for us (make no mistake: not in a full-time role, more like the 15-20mpg Shaq gave us.  Make shots, hit the boards, and let the rest of the starters cover him defensively.)

Danny used it to sign Wilcox. :-\

Just read that. Looks like we've got our roster.

And not the kind to be excited about.

  • Rondo = Good

Possibly the most concise thread title ever...

haha, yep.

danny's done a decent job, i suppose, but i think it would be a stretch to say that this roster is substantially different in terms of player roles and reasonable expectations that the roster at the end of last season.

starting unit = the same

bench:

dooling > arroyo (defensively anyway)
daniels ~ delonte (both injury prone, good contributors)
green = green   pavlovic = pavlovic
bass > glen davis (but maybe not by as much as we hope)
wilcox ~ krstic (hard to say)

the main difference between this year's bench and last year's bench is the athleticism.  wilcox, bass, and daniels are all very athletic, and JJJ is fast, long, and can jump with the best of them.  so i guess the off-season goal of improving the team's athleticism has been met (though it would have been nice to see that translate to the starting center position somehow).

whether or not you think the status quo is something to be really excited / hopeful about or not is up to you.

I have a couple of, at least semi realistic, hopes for this season that will make us better than last year:

Rondo > Rondo

Green > Green

i think it's reasonable to expect that Rondo will at least be more consistent throughout the year.  i wouldn't expect 14 apg to start the season like last year (that was largely the healthy-shaq factor), but hoping that rondo will give us throughout the year what he gave us throughout 2010 and into the 2010 playoffs, i think, is being reasonably optimistic.  i'll put rondo down for 14-10-4-2.

i think we can hope that green will settle more into his role and be more consistently productive / less of a liability playing almost exclusively at the 3 for 20-25 minutes a game.  i'll put green down for 12-3-1.

What roster do you compare with? playoff one?

Previous off season roster had 4 centers - O'Neal brothers, Semi and Perkins in rehabilitation. this is main difference

And one more point: BBD in the beginning of season was terrific, he was our 6th man and time to time the only bench contributor

I'd like to see a proven SG added, even if that means trading for one with Bradley and Steigsma . Too bad Michael Redd couldn't have been added in with Dooling. Love to see him in a backup role.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Just an idea- What if Bass started at the 4 and KG started at center. From the highlights, he looks like he can ball out. It would be nice to have that athleticism on the floor right out of the gate.
What do ya'll think?
