First they steal away David West to solidify their front court and then they get the huge scoring threat they've desperately been needing in the back court.

Collison    George Hill
OJ. Mayo    Dahntay Jones
Granger     George
West        Hansbrough
Hibbert     Foster

On paper, that looks like a well constructed team and quite the collection of talent. Obviously they have to prove to everyone that they can play as a team or else they'll turn out as the Philadelphia Eagles of the NBA. but i think a team like that could be a nightmare for old teams like the Celtics. Yikes. They're capable of getting a 3rd or 4th seed in the east, imo.

Hats off to Larry Legend for making the Pacers relevant again.

On paper that looks pretty decent. But on paper teams have always disappointed in the past.

They should keep playing Paul George at the starting SG spot.

I think so too. Bring Mayo off the bench, let him be the scoring focus for the 2nd unit.

Yeah, and having two larger wings against stronger starters is a big part of that. Plus George needs minutes to keep developing and with West now on the team Granger is going to spend less time at PF (which is a good thing).

they won't win their division, but they could get a 5th or 6th seed.  probably better than the hawks or sixers, this year.  possible first round upset team, depending on who they face.

That is a nice team.  Classic Pacers: an ensemble cast with great depth and balance.

They'll need huge leaps from Collison, Hibbert and George to really threaten any serious contenders though.

Just hard to see that team breaking the top ten offensively (as of now, 3/5 of their starting line-up is pretty mediocre offensively) or defensively.

I see them as an easy 45-50 win team (under 82), which might even get them home court in the first round.  I mean the Pacers won 37 and were the 8th seed last year and essentially add David West and OJ Mayo for Josh McRoberts, Mike Dunleavy, and Brandon Rush.  I like that upgrade.  Not to mention the team is so young that pretty much everyone will just naturally improve.

It's a decent team.  They won't be too much of a threat without a star though.

Unless OJ Mayo can become the star he was supposed to be. With Mayo as the 1st scoring option Danny Granger could really thrive... not to mention David West. Hibbert is also nasty.

Yeah that's a team that can win a 4 vs 5 matchup in the playoffs but that team will not get past the second round. Not enough game changers. Not one of those players is the second best player on a championship team. I guess unless they are playing with a supremely talented match-up nightmare.

Hold on, they don't have OJ Mayo just yet. Am I missing something?

They should definitely be able to score.

Will they be able to defend well enough to put up a very good record?

Bad trade. OJ Mayo will take away more than he gives.

They would have had a more team orientated and committed group of guys with Mayo. They complemented one another very well prior to Mayo. Now they're going to be bending over backwards to fit OJ in and it's going to displace a couple of player's roles. Hurt the team.
