we will have to see what happens with West, but if he manages to turn Davis, JO, and a small trade exception into West, Bass, Dooling, Daniels, and Wilcox, while keeping Green on the 1 year deal, and still have the MLE he gets an A in my book.

I am waiting to see what else is going in the West deal though.  They have to be sending at least a first rounder or Bradley.  That would knock the grade down slightly, but not much.

I agree, wait and see.  However, if everything happens as reported, I'd say that this has been Danny's best off-season, in terms of assets-to-moves ratio.  Obviously, the summer of 2007 was his most successful one, but the team had legit assets.  This off-season, he's literally had almost nothing to work with, and has reportedly upgraded the team significantly.

Ohy my holy crap I can't believe what I'm reading this morning isn't this freaking wild if old Danny Boy can pull this off?!?!?!?!?!

If we pick up an all star in David West, Danny's moves will have gone from bringing us a "big 3" to developing a "big 4" to having a full five all stars on the starting lineup?!?!?

And then the 2nd unit that comes in behind the 20 point lead includes Dooling, Daniels, JGreen, Bass, and Wilcox?  Good luck scoring against that group.

Beat that, Riley.

Yeah...I have to see the West signing pan out, but if it goes through as West for JO and the corpse of Sasha Pavlovic, then I agree this is probably Dannys best off season.

West (if healthy) is a better player than almost anyone that would've been available for our cap space next year.  Getting him signed now to a team friendly contract that wont significantly hinder us next year is more than I ever hoped for.

I am pretty happy with the moves whether we get West or not and if we get West, I am really happy.  I thought we had a chance at Chris Paul and even though it didn't go down, Danny deserves some "points" for having us in the discussion.

We are what we are (cliche alert!), there is no way we were going to get a couple of stars in their prime.  We are making one more run with our big 3 and trying to put as many good players around them as we can.

We still need Center help but not necessarily at the beginning of the season.  Lots more can happen as the season plays out.

Danny's starting to look like a professional shopper or trader, building team value on arbitrage.

Some of those near-lateral moves last winter look now like intentional upgrades to his cupboard, if I may mix my metaphors, so he'd have more value to S&T at just this point.

I await his final steps to pull it all together, at least for this season.

I give him a B.

I'm concerned about David West's health.  Would've preferred Nene.

Would've MUCH preferred CP3 and/or Dwight Howard.

nene is way too expensive.

I'm concerned about defense.  Say what you want about Baby, but he was a pretty good defender, imo.  And Jermaine O'neil, while not great offensively, he was an excellent defender.  Not sure how the replacements are with defense.

My sentiments exactly except for the grade which I would say is a C.  Watching the Lakers nearly getting Paul and Howard and the Knicks getting Chandler while we get a bunch of role players?  C'mon C's fans quit drinking the Kool-Aid.

That's like giving Ainge a C for the draft because he failed to get a pick as good as the best players drafted.  The Celtics have only so many trade assets and should be evaluated based on how those assets were maximized and how well Ainge has done relative to how other NBA GMs would have done with the same team.

How close was Ainge to getting the best player he could have gotten from that trade exception?  I give him a B on that.  Could Ainge have gotten more in a Glen Davis sign and trade?  I give him an A/A- for that.  I'm shocked he got as much as Brandon Bass.

How good are his minimum salary pick-ups?  How good are his training camp invites?  I'm not giving grades on those yet, but I feel he's done a decent job in those areas.

He hasn't hit a home run, but I don't think Ainge has done anything that seems obviously wrong so far.

I'm seeing that NJ is offering Nene like 17.5 million per year?  That is nuts!

I just feel that the Cs have lost a lot of size and toughness - West seems like a finesse guy and I think we need a bruiser down low.
