Wow, for vet min? That's a little surprising to me.

Dooling for the TE
Wilcox for vet min
Daniels for vet min
S&T Davis for Bass

That's some very good work by Ainge so far.

Yep.  Very good work, and he hasn't had to touch the MMLE yet.

And we still have Green, either to resign him or to sign & trade him for someone else!

More about Wilcox from Scott Souza : "Doc Rivers : Chris Wilcox was guy we targeted. Can run floor with Rajon Rondo."

Finally.  I've been wanting Wilcox for Rondo since we drafted him.  Wilcox runs the floor as well as any big I've ever watched.

I remember wanting him on the Celts, but I don't remember if Rondo was on the team at the time.

So what's the team look like now?

JO / Wilcox
KG / Bass / JJ
Pierce / Green
Ray / Marquis / Bradley / Moore
Rondo / Dooling

So, target a third string center next, and keep an open roster spot?  Or sign a combo guard?  Or, trade for an elite superstar PG?

So far....I'm thinking this celtics version is better than the group we had at the end of last season... :)

Hope the big three didn't age much  ???

Great job by Danny so far this offseason.

He was in the running to land an All Star, when that fell through he moved quickly by trading for/signing quality depth for the bench while maintaining financial flexibility going forward.

Keeping all the starters should help with the compressed season, meaning the Cs will be competitive.

I like this signing.   Wilcox will help and can play C or PF.   We got some bench bigs who like playing inside with Wilcox and Bass.  I think this will add some balance for us and both these should add some toughness and veteran saavy.

Unlike many here I think I would see what else we can get before we sign Delonte.   He spends a lot of time on the IR.

Good signing.

Although we did miss out as Toronto signed Magloire.  ;D

Wilcox is big and athletic. Can play PF & Center.
At the Vet min. is a great deal.

Not as high on the Bass pickup, am hoping Doc gives Jjuan a chance and Bass becomes insurance.

Agreed.  I am very impressed that Ainge was able to go full boat into getting Paul and when that didn't pan out went seamlesly into signings and the BBD trade to get guys who can help.  What's more, if the CP trade should re-emerge as a possibility all of DA moves still work.  Notice that LA can't make any mves right now because their team is very different with/ without the CP trade.

  • Rondo = Good
I appreciate that Danny has been able to round out the roster with the vet minimum without resorting to super old guys.  Bass / Wilcox is quite an athletic pairing.

Signing younger backup vets will hopefully allow Doc to play the Big 3 less than 30 minutes on a regular basis.

Looks like we'll have a lot of athleticism off the bench between Green, Bass, and Wilcox. Something we haven't had in a few years.
You are no longer black, or brown, or yellow, or red! You are now GREEN, you are light GREEN, or dark GREEN!

Still need Arron Gray or some other true center; however Wilcox is fast for a big and Jjuan is blinding. Add Green, Bradley and Rondo and you have serious speed at every position.

Magloire would have been a very nice third string center for this squad.

Magloire would have offered a very different and useful skill-set. Physical toughness. A real presence in the paint. Low post defense. Rebounding. A very nice complement the corps of quick athletic big men Danny has already assembled.

Magloire would give Doc someone whom he can turn to when playing a big team like the LA Lakers. Give them 10+ minutes of tough defense against A.Bynum.

Does these athletic guys mean we are going to run more with the second unit?   I hope so.  Change of tempo can be a big weapon and keep the other team tired.

This is my hope every season. And then we see players like Ray getting 40+ mins a night for long stretches of games.

Yeah I've always hated Magloire...as an opponent.

Good role player who can really get under another team's skin.

I thought J.Magloire was finished three years ago. Very surprised with how well he played after joining the Miami Heat. Losing all that extra weight did wonders for him.

Magloire was a high level third string center for Miami.
