IF we can't get CP3 then we are in really bad shape.  Next summer we will have cap space but there aren't any franchise players besides Chris Paul and Dwight.

This scares me and reminds me of the Pistons a few years back when they spent their cap money on Charlie V and B Gordon.  That is not what we need.  If we can't get Paul, we need to make some other deals now in my mind.

Al Jefferson anybody?  He would provide the low post option we sorely need for this year and going forward.   Perhaps RA for him? I know that is terrible to say but a nucleous of Jefferson Green, Rondo and some 2nd teir free agent is better than the alternative.

I think now is the time to reshuffle this roster to bring in some new pieces..

Any other thoughts on this??

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
If no cp3 then we get reacquainted with mediocrity for a bit.

REBOOT!

Where is that picture from and why do I hate it without knowing why? I'm pretty sure it was a show, lol.

wow he still prefers the Lakers and he would rather play with GSW or LAC then in Boston smh

well, Rondo did practice w/ Ray Allen today hopefully Ray had a good talk with him and Rondo's mindset is "lets roll" and is out to prove something. he might feel different with danny and doc to an extent but he shouldnt take it out on his teammates and hopefully gets over it quick.

C's need to make moves

Rondo for Hibbert, Collison, and George

Rondo for Conley and Mayo

Garnett and Allen for Roy, Camby, and Oden (3yr, 21 mill or so)

Allen, O'Neal, 1st for Biedrins and Ellis

Garnett, 1st for Brand, Turner

plus any number of similar type trades
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

If we don't get CP, we will keep Rondo, re-sign KG and Ray next year on cheaper contracts (If they don't retire), fill the gaps with some sub-par players... and tread water while the team continues to sell out every game.  Btw... this is the most likely scenario

It's from one of the most awesomest cartoons of the '90s.

it's a show called Reboot from the 90's, as LC said.  "reboot" is precisely what the celtics would have to do if they don't land cp3.

while that might make sense financially, i don't think danny would be content to follow that plan.  if he were interested in moving forward with rondo as our centerpiece he wouldn't be looking into renting chris paul for a year.

i think the more likely scenario is letting kg and ray go / retire after this year, possibly trading or amnestying pierce, and trading rondo for whatever he's worth.

then it's reboot time.  reacquaint ourselves with mediocrity, as manup said.

considering how stacked this upcoming draft is supposed to be, i think i'd prefer to see them pack it in this season and try to get a top 10 pick (and perhaps a top 15 pick from the clips).  but that's obviously not going to happen.

And here we go...psyched to be posting here by the way.

Not a big fan of trading Rondo, Green, a combination of JJ/AB, and picks all for a player that does not want to be here.
My stance if why do we automatically get better with CP3 and have more of a chance than with Rondo?  I understand the shoot ing, which would change the dynamic of our team.  Still does not guarantee anything.  Keep in mind that Rondo does and has shown the ability to do everything else at an elite level.  Passing/Decision making/Playcalling/rebounding/defence.  That should mean something when he has done it in not only the regular season, but the playoffs as well. Remember that chemistry is going to be even more important in a shortened season. This is how I look at it, come playoff time is CP3 going to have more of an impact than Rondo+Green+few other pieces?  Call me a homer but I do not see it.

The biggest concern moving forward to me is the health of KG.  We can add CP3 in place of Rondo, but with KG not at 100% we have no chance.  We need to rely on the young pups this year.  Do not think Doc has much of a choice and we will see quite a bit of AB/JJ/Green and maybe even new Twan.  I still don’t see how having Rondo holds us back this year considering what he has shown us the past few post seasons.

Another important reason why I prefer Rondo moving forward is his contract gives us more wiggle room.  Having to pay Rondo only $11 million a year enables us to afford more and surround him with complimentary players. I would consider Rondo appealing to play with based on his style of play and would think players would love to come here.

If Rondo is traded I will eventually get over it and will continue to root for my team as I have for 25 years+.  I just do not think the trade will be as beneficial as most do.

The year is 2013...  Where Boston Happens...

If not...   There's always this to looking forward to next year.

I am smiling...  No, not really.  What we have here is a lack of communication.  You will be hearing from my agent...  I am ghost next year.

My biggest fear is that we end up in the Pistons shoes as well.  We've had a good deal of luck with trades working out, draft picks panning out, etc., but I have a bad feeling that all this cap space could end up being squandered =/

It's great when it turns a mediocre team into contenders like miami (and maybe NY), but that takes players who want to make it happen.  We dont have that.  We have cap space, and players that DONT want to come.  So instead of getting premier players who attract others, we could end up with borderline premiere players who dont want to be here.

I'd rather go from big 3 era, to young entertaining draft picks era, then big 3 era to pistons-ish era.

The one thing I feel confident about is that Ainge won't overpay to sign someone for the sake of signing someone.  I think he would find a way to take on a bad contract with 1-2 years left and get compensated with a draft pick or other asset (something like what the Cavs did in acquiring Baron Davis), even if it means it takes longer to get to the next championship window, and that he won't do the equivalent of signing Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva.
