According to one source, Rondo has been angry with the sense the Celts are shopping him, but his representative used calmer language to describe the player’s response.

“I think he’s just curious,” said Bill Duffy, who was at the Celtics practice facility yesterday. “ ‘Do they want me, or do they not want me?’ Those are the prominent questions that he’s asking.

“It’s just disturbing. It’s disturbing for everybody. It’s disturbing for me. It’s disturbing for him, because it makes one think, ‘Where do I stand in this relationship?’ Particularly because he’s a darn good player, and this is a very successful franchise, and he’s one of the key players on the franchise.

“When the uncertainty of your situation becomes a prominent topic — not just within your household, but on a national basis — it is a bit challenging.

not surprising, the writings on the wall doubt he stays on this team beyond this year :-\

Rondo is not leaving Boston...he knows the fans love him and he loves Boston too...

and as other people say, the better you are, the more rumors surrounds you...

I believe Rondo will stay if we do not trade him or w/e

Things Rondo could do to avoid trade rumors in the future:

1.  Work on his attitude;

2.  Develop his jumper;

3.  Learn to hit free throws;

4.  Bring consistent effort at all times;

5.  Don't disappear for the last quarter of the season.

That's perhaps harsh, but I also think it's fair.  He's a great player, but he's not flawless.  As long as there are big holes in his game, the team will inevitably explore upgrades.

If Ainge was going to trade Rondo... you wouldn't hear a single word about it.  How many people saw the Perkins trade coming?

At the same time, how many people knew Ainge was interested in KG before that trade?  (Hint:  everybody and their brother)

Misleading title.  It's his agent saying it's disturbing, not Rondo saying he's angry.

The idea that Rondo might be traded for Chris Paul should not be interpreted as some sort of slight to him as so many are eager to do.  Wasn't Paul Pierce offered for CP3 at one point?

All it means is that Rondo is the C's most valuable asset, not their least desired player.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Wanting to get a guy you like is different than trading part of your core.

I think (to a lesser extent) those points are what Lebron needs to work on too.  ;D
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Couldn't agree more, especially about the 5th point. Rondo is supposed to be the Celtics centerpiece moving forward... is he going to pout for a month every year after the trade deadline? He has to be WAY more professional than that.

  Aside from the fact that working on those things probably won't keep him out of trade rumors, he doesn't disappear for the last quarter of the season. And when he's healthy his effort is pretty consistent, at least as much so as the rest of the team.

Shows the human side to this business we call the NBA. Given his favorable contract, Rondo probably accepted less money to stay in a place that he (presumably) loved, but now he may not even get to stay. Also I think I saw his family at the charity game... seems like he has a newborn. That kind of uncertainty would drive anyone crazy.

Hopefully this anger or whatever isn't destructive and instead motivates him to become a better player...

I don't think Danny wanted to trade Perk, but Danny made the trade to help the  ball club.

That's the bottom line. It's a business and the business is what will make the team  better and have a better shot at competing for a title.

If trading Rondo helps us get closer to CP3, I'm all for it.

Okay...  then how many people knew Big Al was on the block?  Again, everybody, and Danny had described Big Al on the radio that summer as part of his "core".

Here is my opinion on Rondo and this Celtic team.
Rondo is the type of PG who is first and foremost
a play creator. He needs snipers to surround him.
They have been in place as long as he's been in Boston.
What I just said is a massive understatement. Rondo's
assists exist just as much for the talents of Ray, Paul,
Kevin, as they do for his own abilities. At least as
much.
But when the Big 3 start to retire, they will have
to be replaced with 2-3 shooters of the same caliber.
Not just at SG but also at PF and SF. So, yes a team
can be built around Rondo, it's just not going to be
offensively as lethal without top-of-the-line shooting
cast to surround Rondo.
Now, when you get a PG who is also lethal with the FG,
and who's layups don't roll around the rim half the time,
the need to surround him with as many sharp shooters
declines, so you can surround that shooting PG with
a more aggressive basket-charging PF or SF.
So I am of the camp which says the Celtics will be
better served by moving him for a shooting PG, because
you want to have that variety and flexibility going
forward with your best scorers nearing retirement.
A team that will be more difficult to defend against
because the PG is also feared as a shooter.
