Good interview that is about 13 mpg.

http://espn.go.com/espnradio/boston/play?id=7294460

He says we will definitely add a SF. Believes we keep Green too long term. Says no one is safe and would not be surprised to see a big 4 member traded. Knows DA has a plan and possibly something up his sleeve.

Well, hopefully something happens during this condensed off-season that's more interesting than adding Roger Mason and Chuck Hayes.  Failing to do more than that would amount to punting this season, in my opinion.

p.s. I like how you referred to the length of the interview as "13 mpg."  basketball on the brain?  :P

I don't why we would add a SF as well as keep Green.  Seems redundant.

I agree.  Either spend the money on Green and give him as many minutes as possible, or let him go and sign a vet like Battier.

Because right now we have what, 6 players signed?

We need more than three wings.

Well, sure.  But let's say we re-sign Delonte, retain Jeff Green, and sign E'Twaun Moore.  Not unrealistc.  At that point we'd really only need to add a veteran point guard and a veteran, 3rd string swingman (similar to Von Wafer or Sasha Pavlovics' roles last season).

Signing somebody like Battier would imply they intend to play him at least 15 minutes a night, if not more.  I'd rather gives the backup wing minutes to Delonte and Jeff Green, with a smattering of a guy like Wafer.

Unless you re-sign Marquis who would be perfect for us since he would fill three positions depending on our needs... the risk is that he gets injured, of course, so I'm not sure we can call him "reliable" but he would definitely fit in well.

Unless he plans to trade Ray and move Pierce to SF.

all I know is that we better not be planning on using Jeff Green at the 4 for any stretch of time - bad bad bad - he's a 3, enough said

I like Jeff Green as a backup PF. I think he can create a lot of mismatches on the offensive end and be hidden defensively against lesser talents. Similar to how Portland used Travis Outlaw a couple of years ago.

Jeff Green is an abysmal starter at PF though. Too weak a defender/rebounder.

Green seems lost coming off the bench and playing at the 4 position. He is a natural three. He isnt much of a low post player and can guard bigger 4's. He is much more effective on the wing and creating his own offense.

I agree with Who.  Jeff Green is really bad -- especially defensively -- playing against starting 4's.  Against backup 4's, however, I think he can provide some solid mismatches.

Playing with or against starters, though, I think you have to keep him at the 3, unless we're playing a team that uses a similar stretch 4 (e.g. Thad Young, Rashard Lewis).
