Sorry if this has been covered since the agreement was made earlier today, but I was wondering if there were any franchise tag or anything that would prevent the C's from going after Deron William, Paul or Howard next year? I know the owners wanted to make it more fair for the small markets to compete and keep their stars and I havent had the chance to read any articles on it because I am at work. So can anyone tell me if the new agreement still allows the c's to sign a max free agent next year?

with pierce and rondo (trade or injury aside) still being the starters and if the "go all out for Howard" plan fails, or Josh Smith, and DWill CP3 and Lebron  ;D don't come, what about eric gordan? FA in 2012. Probably will command a huge contract but assuming we land no one else and contracts come off the books well have cash to spend.

I would advise against Howard due to price and his short term dominance (i think hell wear out in a few years). Personally (and from playing them in 2k) I like guys like JSmoove and Gordan. Either great to pair with rondo. And getting CP3 or DWill is just not worth it if we can have a dominant 2,3,4 spot guy to play with rondo.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Eric Gordon should be a restricted FA, right? That being the case, landing him is pretty unlikely.

What makes you think that? The guy is only 25, just barely entering his prime years.

my roommate and I made a pretty cool scenario, probably won't ever happen but

what does a future lineup of

Rondo, Rudy Gay, Josh Smith, Blake Griffin and Dwight Howard looks =)

Trade Josh Smith in for a guy like Arron Affalo and it looks like just about the perfect team.

Impossible, but pretty awesome.

I dont know Josh Smith is my favorite player out of the Celtics and we were just speculating judging the players that showed up and played on Rondo's team

and since Josh Smith is Rondo's friend, there could be a chance in the future...

The only max FA available that year that doesn't play PG is Howard.  I think they have a decent chance at Howard but I don't see any other unrestricted FAs that get me excited with possibilities.  Sure there's CP3 and Deron but we already have Rondo for less $.
