The only thing that would make sense to PHX would be

A) a willingness to trade for a position of need w/o spending more money (meaning, they get even cheaper than they've been), and

B) an added sweetener that gives them a shot at adding value (meaning some type of pick or pick swap), and

C) getting a player that complements their "system" and other talent.

Regarding A and C, the variable is having Gortat.  Would they supplement him with BBD seems to be the question.  Personally, I'd trade him for JO to save cash before trading the cheaper Lopez for BBD, but that's just one guy's opinion.

Regarding B, perhaps the right to swap picks would be enough, if saving cash is an incentive?

I dunno...I guess it's possible.

Id trade Davis for anything. Robin Lopez would be way more than I would think we could get in return for Davis.

I would do a Davis for Robin Lopez trade.

Then, use the MLE to sign a FA PF to replace Davis.

I think it will be harder to find a useful C with the MLE then PF.

But, isn't Davis a FA?  Will a sign and trade even be possible?

S/T BBD and a New Jersey's 2nd round pick for Robin Lopez
THEN use the MLE for a SG, not a PF. We can pick up C/PF for min contracts before the deadline. A SG that can catch fire when our vets go cold is what we really need :

Michael Redd would be my 1st selection, after that Jamal Crawford even though he's hoping to snag his last overpriced contract...
Can't stop, Rondo!

Assuming my idea worked...

Our usual Starting 4 plus JO
with backups of;
Avery/Delonte, Redd, Green, JJ, Lopez

Then we pick up a veteran like Kurt Thomas(PERFECT FIT IMO)
Those active 12 would be enough to produce given a healthy short season, and last 3 spots could be back up backups of Troy Murphy, Von Wafer and EMoore
Can't stop, Rondo!

I think Glen Davis is a much better player than Lopez.  From the suns, I am more interested in Mickael Pietrus, Vince Carter, or Josh Childress.  If they will trade one of these other players with Lopez and we can give them cash and a pick in addition to Davis then that might be good.

Please, no VC on the celtics, I don't think I can handle that.

Pietrus may be nice, but he looks like he lost a step last year.

Only Glen Davis thinks his value is high.  I think after his performance and shaqs comments davis' value is probably at an all time low.  I'd be happy to sign & trade but he might be filler for a bigger deal.  I can't see him traded straight up for anyone that good..throw in a draft pick or prospect (maybe)
If we could get lopez or kaman in a package while getting rid of davis that would be great (or any center of that caliber or better).  I'll be surprised if Johnson is not outplaying davis by the end of theyear anyways.  Davis has great defensive footwork for a pf BUT its because he is sf size.  I'd rather we work on a big who has a low post game, we are SEVERELY lacking in any low post presence, kg a bit and green.
If we can't sign & trade davis I'd let him walk unless his attitude improves by a bunch.

let me add NO VINCE CARTER, I don't think the coaches or vets would put up with him and as a fan that puts me towards pitino level  :'(

My first post in a long time, this lockout has taken all my passion away haha.

I'd love Lopez, a change of scenery could be good for him? Prior to last season everyone was talking about his upside....his injury battles have held him back but I think he's young enough to get past them.

Prior to BBD's playoff performance I think it's a fair trade.....but now I think it would be hard to get done. Would you throw in JO? But then money wouldn't match I suppose.....

Why not Gortat?

we don't have value for him......also he'd eliminate cap space. Let's face it, unless some amazing deal occurs....it's full cap space/draft rebuild surely!

I'd love to have gortat if there was ever any chance to get him.  I see no reason he couldnt develop into a great player.  He has good hands, crazy athleticism, great strength, and seems to be a positive locker room guy.  I think all he needs is a good system, and some playing time.

I think we all would love to see Gortat here - but apparently Phoenix sees it the same way.  They're not going to move him unless it's a major deal.

Phoenix have a pretty solid power forward rotation already in place with Channing Frye and Markieff Morris. Plus, Hakim Warrick as a third string PF.

I would be surprised if they had any interest in Glen Davis. He is not an upgrade over their current options and is a poor fit for their system.
