Yo, this "Pokemon Go" thing is out of control. I was jogging around the local park yesterday and there were just dozens of people standing still staring blankly at their phones. If I didn't know what was happening I'd either be freaked out or think it was some flash mob ... as if they were being ironic by standing in the middle of a beautiful park playing on their cell phones while dogs scurried about and people threw Frisbees around them.
It reminded me of an episode of "Black Mirror" so much that I felt obligated to make this video:
Let me guess, Season 2 Episode 2?
The creator of the show ended up tweeting out the video:
This pokemon go thing is getting bigger every day. Here's a picture of my local park this evening:
Last night, the local Police got a bunch of 911 calls, because there was screaming in the park at 11:00pm: http://www.bellevuereporter.com/news/386359571.html
... I know exactly what the screams were, because I was walking home from dinner... the sprinklers came on and hundreds of pokemon go players scattered like cockroaches screaming.
They were also calling out when a rare pokemon would show up. "TAUROS!! TAUROS!!" and everyone would go running to that location. I just checked twitter and someone posted a video of that happening right at this very minute: https://www.instagram.com/p/BHyezP2hYUh/
Gotta admit, it's kinda fun. I've been playing it with my wife. There's no way the fad lasts, but it's pretty entertaining right now.
