This year's Indy 500 winner, 33-year-old father-of-two and one of the series' most liked drivers and personalities, Dan Wheldon, dies from unsurvivable injuries in a race at Las vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday. Rest in peace, Dan ... you will be missed.
Despite many safety upgrades and improvements made to both cars and tracks of late, this is the ever-present reminder of just how dangerous a sport this really is, especially open-car racing. This was one of motorsports' nicest guys.

RIP
It was a brutal crash but at least he went out doing something he loved. Not all of us will be that lucky. Seemed to be a nice guy.
