Thats def. a big compliment from Kobe, but from the outside looking in, I'd say Battier guards him the best.

I've looking been saying that Tony Allen is one of the best, if not the best, perimeter defender in the league.

I'm glad that one of the best scorers in the game's history agrees.

Makes you wonder why we always had RAY Allen guarding Kobe at the end of games.

Well, Ray is a pretty good defender on Kobe in his own right, and he obviously adds more offense on the other end.

I was never a huge Tony fan, but letting him go last year turned out to be a pretty big mistake.

Not having him around last year was a mistake, but maybe it'll help us to lewer a player that we couldn't have gotten if we kept TA.  Still would have loved to have him around last year though.

Kobe didn't knock us out of the playoffs last year.

We still had him when we lost to the Lakers the year before.

There is no denial Tony is an elite defender and was missed by us.   However, Kobe is on the downside of his career.   He did not come through in the playoffs and is 33 years old.  He seems to be bit by the injury bug lately too though he played through the injury.  While he still is an elite player the list of people who can give him trouble defensively is going to grow especially as his jumping declines and his first step gets slower.  Both his FG% and 3p % shooting declined last year and the previous year.  This will be his 16th NBA season if we have one.

Gotta say anytime I saw Tony on Kobe he was always scoring.  Ray does a nice job and when it mattered it was Paul guarding kobe.  Kobe is (a jerk, oops) a tough guard for anyone.  Tony is a very good man to man defender but I can't see it.

Only number i could find, but up through game 4 of the finals...Tony held Kobe to 26% shooting.  You must have been watching at all the wrong moments.
