another trade to report:

Toine's Boys trade Rudy Fernandez, Eric Maynor, and TB's 2nd rounder to Gainsville Celtics for Kirk Hinrich and GS's 2nd rounder.

Hm, solid deal. Someone is going to win this one hands down. Hinrich has been the player to own, but GC is either betting Fernandez will win the starting SG job in Dallas or Teague will become the starting point guard in Atlanta. With nary a training camp who's to say he's wrong?

Also, worth pointing out that all of this recent flurry of trade activity is pending Lucky's approval.

(Or are we on league vote these days?)

Thanks for your thoughts, I agree that this trade can go either way, and it's hard to know without a training camp. Of course, all trades are pending Lucky's approval, which is why this time I tried to carefully word it as a "trade to report" instead of trade to announce.

For what it's worth, I like Hinrich. I tried to pry him loose from GC a couple of times early last season.

A deal that TWW likes for both parties...this is rare.  :P :D

Another deal to announce pending Lucky's approval...

MMSB sends Delonte West and James Harden

to The Naturals for...

Wes Johnson and Metta World Peace

What are your thoughts on this one, guys?

I think Harden is going to have a great year but I also think that Wes Johnson is going to be a really good (maybe not great) scorer in this league and that MWP has a little left in the tank.  Delonte is a total question mark...

I think my head hurts from banging my head on my desk for the last 2 minutes... :P :-\ :( ;D :-\ :'(

Just after the draft, my offer of a player whose name ryhmes with Schmorell Bright straight up for Harden was rebuffed and then he's dealt for Wes Johnson and a bag of crazy?!?

If you can't hear them, the rioters in the streets outside my office are screaming "WHY CAN'T WE GET PLAYERS LIKE THAT GAINESVILLE CELTIC?!?! YOU'RE A BUM!!" It's possible we're gonna be the first fantasy GM desposed of by non-existant fictitious fans.

Hey Naturals... want to trade Harden for a player who's name sounds like Dorell Wright for Harden?!? :'(

Yeah, I'm back to hating.

Terrible trade. Harden had been banging on guys all summer. And I'm sure you could've gotten better value. I'm not sure Wes Johnson even starts next year. You just gave up a top 10 shooting guard to take a flier on a 9 point per game scorer that shot under 40% last season.

The only upside for you? Metta World Peace jokes galore, but even that's probably offset by the mediocre production missed FGs and TOs. I'd rather have Delonte. Artest is actually the one guy I thought Hobbs would be stuck with.

Wow, blech. Let's hear how Roy spins this one.

Whoa!  Top 10 SG?  He averages 12-3-2 last season.  Yes, he is young, but I don't think Harden will ever be a top 10 SG.  Sorry.

I think Wes will have as good or better season (whenever they play next) than Harden - and the potential is there for more.  Have you guys watched this kid?  He can flat out score, he is athletic and his shooting will get better.  I have him putting up better numbers this year than Harden did last or going forward.

Beyond that, Delonte for MWP is not a bad swap.  Say what you want about his craziness but he does still impact games - more than Delonte has in years.

OKC's scoring pie was shared by Green, Durant and Westbrook...with Harden helping himself to the leftovers. Now it'll be shared by him, Durant and Westbrook. His numbers will be better that last year.

Harden is a top-10 NBA shooting guard in 2011-12. Take a look at some rankings. Find somebody else who disagrees with me. Let's try this, Roy I'll give you Ray Allen or Jason Terry plus Alec Burks for James Harden. Let's do it.

And yes World Peace for West is a bad swap straight up. Do you realize that you picked up two sub 40 FG% sub-70 FT% shooters? What does Artest give you besides above average rebounding at the 3? He's a net Fantasy negative.

Wow, blech. Let's hear how Roy spins this one.

I think I just wore just wore Bacon down.  We've been talking about some version of Johnson and Harden for literally months.

Look, Harden and Johnson are both wildcards.  Both can turn into stars, or both can produce at about the level they are now.  I obviously like Harden's potential better, but it's fair for somebody else to like Johnson.  I mean, he was the 4th pick last year, ahead of DeMarcus Cousins.

Delonte is a throw-in; he's not a rotation player anymore, and will probably end up cut.  Right now, he's behind Kyle Singler on my roster.  Artest, on the other hand, is still an elite producer in the steals category, and he doesn't really hurt (or help) much elsewhere.  Steals are a tough category, though; it's why, despite mediocre numbers, Artest ranked as the 100th ranked player on yahoo last year.

Don't judge this trade until it plays out.  Bacon knows what he's doing, and he put a ton of thought into this trade.

I have not been this disappointed since I heard Danny was working on a deal for Harden, but ended up with Green.

I tried a few times to land Harden myself (in both leagues), but w/o any luck.

Good work by The Naturals. The rich get richer.

I am ok with Bacon getting Wes back, but IMO he needed more than MWP back in addition. Another young player would have made the deal more even.

I like Wes's game, but I don't like the fact that he plays for the Wolves. Kahn needs to clean and thin that roster. Once that is done, Wes will have more or a chance to thrive.

right, these deals will be ultimately judged on how each player performs. Like i said in the last thread my deals have been questioned (Biedrins for Jrich when I first took over)... and you have to be confident in your GMing.

But like I said in discussing the Dirk/Kidd/Carter for Jrue/Lopez/Parker deal I'm surprised that GMs aren't looking for higher return in these deals. In either one of these deals, Roy's #1 pick next year, for example, would have balanced out the sides IMO.

You pointed to Y! ranks in that deal Roy (which I personally put less than 1% of stock into), but:

Harden was 55 overall last year, 66 this year
Wes Johnson was 150 & 131 with no real change in role (i.e. he's not moving teams and starting like, say, Dorell Wright did last year)

Like i said before, kudos to each GM for being active and getting the guys they want... that's what fantasy sports is about.
