Hard to wrap my head around, as the TB 2013 1st rounder is what will make or break the deal, I think.

As of right now, I think I'd prefer to have the #5 pick.

I think Roddy B and BBD can both put up numbers if they get playing time, and BBD should get good minutes this year. Roddy B I don't know what happens to him if he stays in dallas. Trading my 1st next year is risky considering where my team finished this year, but I much prefer a top 5 pick this year than next year. Of course, I could pick a total bust this year and my pick might end up #1 next year, but who knows? That's half the fun!

Plus, the guy I think I'm going to take at 5 is likely to be an unpopular pick in this league (I mean, not Kostas Papanikolau like, but no one will rave over him), so it's a good thing we will get to see a full season of his stats before we find out where my first rounder next year ends up.

I think BBD has been waiting his whole life for an entire season of garbage time.  I'm willing to wait til next season for another top prospect, even with the shallower draft.

Beaubois should be higher in the Mavs' rotation this year as well, with Kidd and Terry out and Mayo pretty much strictly a 2.

I really like this for Birdman, if he takes one of what I consider one of the top three players. That pick and Lee's increase in numbers that I expect to see playing in Boston will more than make up for the loss of Jennings.

The other stuff, I guess it kind of all equals out. Utah traded for a better scoring PG and the potential of Biyumbo and Montiejunas and Toine's Boys traded some question marks for what looks like some more stability.

good analysis Nick. My deal, when combined with the followup, ends up being:

Hopefully I turned a collection of question marks into some legit players and managed to maintain some youth along with solid draft picks in this year's deep draft.

I haven't looked at the follow up trade yet but if that's what you did in total, that's okay I guess but you moved down a couple of spots in both the 1st and 2nd this year and still had to give up your 1st and 2nd rounders next year? For what? Less potential and a little more certainty in this year's numbers(that's if Lopez is healthy). If Lopez turns into an injury bust(quite possible given his history) this could set your team back years.

Not so sure about the whole thing. Kinda gonna be a wait and see thing, I guess.

Well its just that last year it was two separate injuries to the same foot that ended his season. Breaks and bad sprains in the same foot for a big man can mean trouble. we will see.

Yea, he's no Oden. I'd be more worried about Dwight Howard's back than Lopez' foot. He came back well from it last year and could have been back sooner from the sprain. The nets shut him down for precaution because they sucked, kinda like Pierce and his foot in 2007. Lopez has as the tools to be a top fantasy center, is very young, and his new teammates will spread the floor a lot more for him and find him in better spots.
