Ive never seen someone try to abandon ship before it even left port.
Lol no. Its just reality. We have no bigs. If you trade Perk you have to lock up a 27year old Krstic.

Giving up the flexibility we have going forward in order to lock up Nenad is crazy.
Who do you think we are going to sign at the 4/5?

And to answer a earler question. Nothing is wrong with KG except in basketball years he is ancient. He cannot play 40 minutes a night anymore. He shouldnt be banging  with Centers anymore either.

Indiana gave Chicago a good run this last spring. And if you think we are a lock to finish ahead of Orlando and Atlanta you are dreaming. We dont have any size or youth inside.

I don't think we have to worry about Doc playing KG 40 minutes seeing as he's averaged 31mpg since he's been here.  He hasn't really played Center since 08.

All we need is one solid PF/C and a 4th big for when JO is out (could be Baby).
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

thats the point of the whole thread. We dont have a sold PF/C and are not likely to get one with the options we have available. I dont think Baby really wants to come back. If a team offers him equal money I see him walking. He is not happy here.

KG's 34 or 35. That's not ancient. Big men playing until they're 40 or so isn't that unusual.

Locks? Maybe not. But the odds on Orlando or Indiana being better than us are pretty bad, they aren't even that good for Atlanta.

As for the season? After the last meeting, I am little more optimistic than before. At least both sides are talking.

As for the team? As is, we'd need good health for the entire run and Glen to come back and be productive. Plus, I think JaJuan and E'Twaun will help us out, too.

JO getting this summer off for  his health and also add in a training camp for Jeff Green and they will contribute as well.

JO is already giving all we could ask for defensively. And he looked very good vs NY.

Throw in the fact that our opponents must stay healthy too, and yeah I can't count us out just yet.

Kg just turned 35 in May. He has been playing in the league since 1995 though. 43,914 career regular season minutes. 4083 career playoff minutes. He has played amost 50,000 minutes of basketball. He might be in the top three active players total minutes played. He wont be playing at 40.

Ok, when is he going to retire?

Even if he isn't playing at 40, he could easily play effectively for another 3-4 years. And do you really think other people don't know that he's been in the league for a while and played a lot of minutes?

And, for the record, he's over 4000 games and like 13,000 minutes from the record. Also, 4000 playoff minutes isn't that much. Rondo's played almost 70% of that total. Kobe's played over twice that many minutes.

Yes the ride is over. If your talking about improving the bench theres no point in arguing because you don't realize the problems with the starters. KG is only a star on one side of the floor, Pierce is a more efficient scorer, but he's a lot less explosive. Rays a shooter who needs others to create looks for him to really excel. Their all peices, but there's no real star to get this team over the top, I expected Rondo to step into that role but he hasn't. In this league you need stars to win and right now were lacking that.

However saying we're likely to finish 7th in the east is a huge stretch. The only teams in the east to worry about as of now are MIA, CHI, and NYK.

we really had no stars in 2010 and made the finals...and that year Ray had one of his worst shooting years and KG was playing on one knee..both were much better last year..but everyone else Wasnt..and thats really what killed us.

Rondo was injured all year which killed his driving to the basket, and dislocated his elbow in the playoffs. If healthy, I think rondo can step into a role of helping the team more and up his scoring

we were the best team in the east 3/4 of the year. If healthy, I think we can contend..

the score to those heat games were alot closer than the 4-1 would suggest..and 2 of them were basically played without Rondo

maybe im not as pessimistic as others, but I think if Rondo is healthy and we have 2 REAL bigs to clog the paint, we can beat miami

I don't know what would've happened if Rondo hadn't gotten hurt in game 3, but the series didn't look good. Our guys fought tooth and nails for leads and could do nothing but watch as MIA chewed through them almost effortlessly. You could talk about how close the games were, but our guys were on their heels the whole series. Even in game 3 things got a little scary before Rondo had to come back in. It was the same story in 2010 and I imagine it will be the same in 2011-12. Just not enough to hold on.

As for 2010 we had more talent then anyone in the east and the competition wasn't as stiff. 2010 Cleveland has been replaced by Miami, 2010 Orlando has been swapped with Chicago and 2011 NY, Orlando, and Atlanta are still threats. Not to mention how the teams out West are getting stronger.

Game 4 went to overtime in spite of Rondo playing with one arm. We'd have been 2-2 in the series otherwise.
