The title of this thread says it all, “normal or weird?”

Have you ever done something you think is completely normal, maybe something you do all the time and have been doing for years, but then somebody sees you doing it and shoots you a confused look like “what the heck are you doing?”  Now you question if the thing you’re doing is normal or if the person questioning you on it is the weird one.

Also have you ever done something that you know is weird, you know it’s not at all normal, but you still do it for one reason or another.  Then one day you find somebody else who shares the exact same quirk, and you’re excited to meet a fellow weirdo, “You mean I’m not the only one!”

And then there are just things you’re not sure about.  I think this is normal, or I don’t see why this would be weird, yet I don’t know of anybody else who does this, so is this normal or weird?

This is a thread dedicated to that.  So post your scenarios/questions here and comment on others, and let's find out if your normal or weird!

I always rinse out a cup I take from out of the cupboard or off the shelf; even if I know it’s clean.  I always get weird looks when I do this, whether at my own house or somebody else’s.  If it’s at my own house, people will ask “what those dishes aren’t clean” or “why didn’t you do that for my glass?”  If I’m at somebody else’s house, they’ll say something like “you know those dishes are clean, right?” or “what, you don’t think I know how to properly clean a dish?”

It’s not so much about the dish not having been properly cleaned, it’s about dust (and to a lesser extent bugs).  I just feel like dust can be floating through the cabinets still and get in the cups (even if the glass is stored upside down).  Some dishes sit in the cabinet for a long time.  And no matter how clean the house is, eventually I’ll see a bug in the kitchen, and who knows where that thing has crawled, it could have crawled in the cabinets and on the shelves.

So I always rinse out my cups/glasses before I use it, yet I don’t do this with other dishes/utensils though, (but if possible I never take from the top plate or bowl on the shelf (when they’re stacked) if I can avoid it, because of the dust thing.

Normal or weird?  (I know this is weird, but am I alone?).

This one is about my girlfriend, and I thought it was extremely weird when I saw her do it.

When she eats regular cereal (like cheerios or frosted flakes).  She takes the milk out of the fridge and then proceeds to warm up the milk in the microwave (and not just a little bit, she makes it hot) and then eats her cereal with warm milk.  While she’s not a big milk drinker, it’s not like she drinks warm milk, she just warms it up for her cereal.  I thought this was so strange and disgusting.

So is this normal or weird?

I wouldn't say it is the norm or is it weird...more like different.

First of all, I want it known that I absolutely, positively, 100% normal!

However, my family thinks it is weird that I won't eat pie.  I will eat pie crust, and I will eat the filling separately, but put the filling into the crust and I won't eat it.  That goes for dessert pies and meat pies both.  I have no idea where this infantile action came from...it just is.

I've been living in my current home for 7 years.  There are two bathrooms (one upstairs and one downstairs).  For whatever reason I have never used the upstairs bathroom to poop.  Peeing upstairs:  NO PROBLEMO!  But I've never felt right pooping up there.

After a couple of years w/o pooping up there I became superstitious of having never pooped up there, and not wanting to break the "streak".

Once, during an emergency situation when the downstairs toilet was being used already, I tried pooping up there but could not.

Mind over matter?

Yup

Same scenario for me.  I always rinse a cup or glass out whether I'm at home or not.  Mainly, it's the germ/soap factor.  I don't trust that someone washed the top of the glass correctly and that there isn't some dried saliva still sitting there.  I've also seen a couple of people at their own place pour a drink, pound it, rinse out the inside of the glass right away, then put it back on the rack with the "clean" dishes. Bleh!

I've also drank water from a glass that tasted a little like soap and I figure it wasn't rinsed correctly. Bleh again!

That's how I like my cereal too. With hot milk.

Also, I can't drink milk without adding some sugar. It has to be a little sweet and hot.

Both of you are perfectly normal!

I don't eat pie either.   But, it's because I don't like fruit -- especially cooked fruit.

I used to put  salad veggies in my mashed potatoes.  I thought it was perfect - mashies are warm and much, veggies are cool and crispy.   Then one day a friend gave me a horrified look and I never did it again...

I do the EXACT same thing for the same exact reason.

First of all, I want it known that I absolutely, positively, 100% normal!

I had a girlfriend who did the same thing, she'd eat all around the pie except for the middle. It drove me nuts!!!

OK, now this is weird lol.

But I can't condemn you because my weirdest thing is that I can't go #2 anywhere  but my home or someone's (that I know very well) home. If it has to be in another home (basically family or girlfriend only), it will have to be an ancillary one that not many people use. I don't even go at work (been at current location for over 3 years, never once sat on the bowl). I know it is not healthy, but I just can't go even if I tried. *Must get over phobia*
