How is Cleveland in the Southwest Division?

Oh great, now I've got a problem with the neighbors.

Big winners after round 1.

Utah, Cleveland, Dallas, and Sacramento, of course.(Cheap plug)

Big Losers after round 1.

None.

Need to prove a little something, and sure they all will.

Jersey, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, Phoenix, Atlanta....<snip>

and now, finally an unbiased look at the first round (complete with 4 hours of hindsight):

BIG 1st round winners: ME

BIG 1st round losers: All of you

There you have it folks. The first round recap you can take to the bank.

----------------

Nothing personal Nick, but IMO there really is an unnecessary  rush to judgement ---- its what folks did with the Heat last year ("they'll win 70!" "No they'll win 80!, etc) and it does everyone a disservice (and happens to a team or 2 every CB Draft....)

Basketball is about TEAM... not about who is individually best. I'll wait to see who has a better team.
I agree

As I said, I think each TEAM will prove to make great moves. But looking at things in tunnel vision, that's my opinion. Hey, I didn't have a first rounder last year and ended up in top 8. Crotors won it the year before without a high pick(or even a good player ;D).

Final judgment will come with the team vote. Doesn't mean we can not encapsulate things now though.

Wait, you mean the good people in San Antonio, Dallas and Memphis don't like people in Cleveland?

On the other hand, ever been to Cleveland?

Spent 4 years there in the 80's. Yuck

17 wins.

This response is kind of a bummer. And how far are you willing to take the losing record argument? Is Tim Duncan's production more meaningful than Lamarcus Aldridge's? Can we write off all successful young players with lousy career winning %s?

I'd much rather hear about which aspects of Love's game you don't believe will translate to a better team? Or why you feel that Stoudemire is the better of the two subpar defenders?

Who wrote off Love?

He is not a dominate player as he was being described as.  Dominate players do not win 17 games in the NBA.

Love was a fine pick for the spot.  He was on my list in that area.

And yes, I had Amare in my top 10.  NY went from a 29 win team to a 42 game win

Phoenix went from a 54 win team to a 40 win team.

I know Amare is not the only change, but he was the biggest change at the beginning of the season.

I had Aldridge ahead of Love.  Aldridge put up better offensive numbers and had to step up to help lead his team to 49 wins.  He is capable of defending two spots well.  His rebounding is OK.  He gives me flexibility to add other big men instead of being stuck trying to find a C when there are so few.

Wait ...

So if wins are a measure of a player's worth then Andre Iguodala, a former All-Star, should be worth a huge amount since his team went from 27 wins to 41 wins.

Oh wait....

He was the star of the team and number 1 option but scored less PPG, rebounded less, shot worse, and played worse and is being shopped more than any other player this off season even though his team won 14 more games than the year before.

According to tour wins philosophy, shouldn't Philly not only want to keep him but give him a raise?

He has never been an all star, just FYI... Not sure if that helps or hurts your argument.

True...had to look it up.

He was at All Star weekend during rookie game and rookie vs sophomore game for 2 years and was a Slam Duck contest participant but wasn't an AS. Good call.

Or that their actual leading scorer had a bounce back year and was arguably their best player while their 2nd year player took a huge step forward.

Actually, as Philly got better, AI2 stats went down.  So we see a good player that had their stats inflated because the talent around them wasn't as good.

Thank you.  Great example.

Again, for the record, I am not anti-Love or anti-the pick.

I disagreed with the description.

Or the whole wins vs the player argument is complete dung. Which it is.

Was Oscar Robertson bad because the Cincinnati Royals were bad for a while?

Was Barkley a bad player because he played on bad Philly teams to start his career?

Was Pierce a bad player for being on bad teams? KG? How about Pete Maravich? Bernard King? Dr. J?  Wilt? DJ? Bing?

The list goes on and on.

Before throwing out a player's accomplishments based on the team around him, how about actually looking at his accomplishments as a player. Because according to your logic Satch Sanders and Robert Horry are two of the best players ever because of the amount of rings they have even though they weren't really great at all.

I completely understand where you're coming from, I just see it as a dominating player on a non-dominating team. A player can't put up those numbers and achievements without being dominant. More than that, I watched many of his games, and he was without question the "dominant" player on the floor. Semantics, I guess, and we're each entitled to how we interpret them ... I'm fine either way, and happy with the pick. :)

Kings now have two 4th rounders looking for a move up into the 3rd. PM Rondo or I with offers.
