I have a feeling that the Celtics would be on your list for contraction.

Not necessarily true depending on payroll, luxury tax, and how big local TV money is.

It most certainly can lose money if their administrative and operating expenses are sky-high.

Any business can lose money even if things are looking good t the outsider. 

So many variables affect a company's bottom line. Many that aren't seen to the general public.

But if you are making money off of attendance, your team winning games, sponsorships from TV deals and TD Garden, you're more well off than other teams

  I can remember when Minny signed KG to a big contract. They did an interview with the owner or GM and I think he said they needed to win on average a playoff series a year to make any money.

I think contraction is probably just an emotional issue and I'm not cool with it. Not yet anyway.  In particular I'm not sure I'm cool with contraction when there are good cities that want and can support an NBA franchise.

But if you are making money off of attendance, your team winning games, sponsorships from TV deals and TD Garden, you're more well off than other teams

I'm not sure how much money they're making off TD Garden since they don't own the building and pay rent to the Bruins.  Not sure what the organzations rip off concessions/merchandise is but I'm willing to bet that the Garden is not a cashcow for the Celtics.
