Just curious if anyone has heard any mention of a drop dead date or rough approximation for when the season would be in jeopardy if a new CBA isn't reached?

In 1998 I believe the agreement was made during the 1st or 2nd week of January, allowing for a tight 50 game schedule.  Now if it took all the way to the AS break, would the league even bother having a 32-35 game season?  I'm thinking 45-50 would have to be the lower threshold for regular season games.

They said that they came within 24 hours of the whole season being cancelled in 1999 so the date of that agreement is pretty much the end point.

I couldn't remember the exact dates so I looked it up and found that ... David Stern had said that he would cancel the whole season if a deal wasn't in place by the 7th of January a few days before Christmas. The deal was agreed on the 6th of January. Not signed until the 20th but agreed on the 6th.
