Well, I would first try to convince him to resign on a 1 year deal. However, if he is deadset on a long-term deal (and can find a taker) or just wants to leave the C's, I would take whatever I could get for him, on a 1 year contract. Can't take any bad deals for him, but if you can turn him into even a useless player on an expiring contract, that can be used to match salaries on a guy who can help the team.
The C's are very short on assets at the moment, and have a difficult task to compete this year without compromising cap space going forward. So, they are going to need as many movable pieces as possible.
