I saw this one on bleacher report.

Bargnani for Bradley and a couple picks. Would you make the deal? Certainly doesn't kill our flexibility and I like him as a trade chip for Orlando. I'm sure they would take him, all he can really do is chuck 3's which is all Orlando can do anyway.

Link? I mean, salaries aren't even close...

Also, why the heck would Toronto do this? They are already way under the cap, so it is not for a salary dump. The talent doesn't match up. It makes no sense whatsoever.

Bargnani is a liability. He makes us or any other team he is on worse. His team defense + rebounding are just too poor.

He is the polar opposite of a player like Tim Duncan or Kevin Garnett. A great player who makes the game easier for their teammates by being top defenders, top rebounders and unselfish offensive players. They do everything possible to help their teammates be successful.

Andrea Bargnani, on the other hand, makes the game incredibly difficult for his teammates. Constantly letting them down on team defense; in transition, in pick and rolls, defensive rotations, closing out shooters and protecting the rim. He is also out-rebounded with alarming frequency and regularly forces his team to have less possessions than his opponent. Those flaws make life incredibly difficult for his teammates and make them look much worse than they actually are.

With every missed effort, he demoralizes his team further and his sooner or later his lack of effort begins to spread to his teammates like a poison. Why bother trying when Bargnani doesn't? After all, he gets his 35 minutes regardless of what he does on the court. He gets his 14-17 FGAs and 17-20ppg.

Bargnani is a cancer. A poison to any team that employs him. Someone who needs to be cut out of the roster as soon as possible.

Toronto needs to get him the hell of town.

I was kind of skeptical myself, but I wanted to see what all my fellow fans thought.

4 years over $40m ... no way. One dimensional player; not the type of big we need.

I'm on B/R at least 20 times a day and I saw this too, I commented on there that the salaries don't work. But we could trade Ray for Barg or some variation of that.

The salaries won't match. Although I love the idea of Bargs being off the bench. Yes he's atrocious on defense and rebounding, but the dude can score. Imagine all those jumpshots taken BBD the last year being taken by a much better shooter in Bargnani. But the C's need a rebounding Center along with him.

I think Toronto will hang on to him for a while. They realized already the he is not suitable for center and now they are trying to make him play at PF. Evaluate him more at that position before deciding. Or at least that's what I've read from Raptors articles.

Bargnani is going to be an even worse defensive player as a PF.

Only way before the lockout is Bradley + Ray or Jermaine or maybe Jeff Green & Cash.

Any of those three guys teamed with Barnagni should match the salaries. He would be a nice Big Baby replacement. He would knock down those open Jumpers all day long and still has potential that other teams might accept in a package for another player.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I understand that Bargnani may not be worth his contract and the salaries don't work out, but if salaries weren't an issue, we absolutely would have to jump all over this deal in terms of value.

Overlooking the fact that the trade is not allowed on the current CBA, I just am not a huge Bargnani fan.  He is not a good enough offensive player to make up for his lack of desire defensively.  And to make things worse, he has the ability to be a good defender...just isn't interessted in it.

I would take him as a shooter, if the C's already had a core to build around, but given his salary, and the teams current situation, he just is not what they need.

That's the big the big catch. But he can be a match up problem especially off the bench. You only bring him in to score points and he should have a defensive center next to him to cover up his stupidity on that side of the court.
