Not as old as you all  :-X...haha but I always liked basketball but really started watching the beginning of the 09 playoffs & I fell in love with the team especially Pierce & Rondo. Being from Tacoma (Next to Seattle) its' hard to root for the Thunder anyways & Ray's here too anyways.

My father told me a little story about the 1981 Celtics-Rockets Finals in which Moses Malone stated to the media that he could pick any 4 guys off a random playground in his hometown of Virginia and they'd whoop the C's. Larry then proceeded to eat Moses Malone and the Rockets ALIVE and the C's closed Houston out in 6 games ... Later Larry emphatically told Moses to eat (expletive ;)) ... and I would forever be hooked ...

Wow, a lot of different generations of C's fan. A common story seems to be people who watched a game (either through their dads or just cause it was on) and instantly got hooked.

You guys in Boston are lucky, the only local interstate sport we have is AFL and I can't stand it. We've got new sports channels and all that show NBA games 3 times a week but it's still not easy to catch all the games (especially if they're at 3am here thanks to the time difference). Thank god for league pass.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Believe it or not, I am a fan of Boston because of Jeff Green.

I followed Green his entire college career, and I was awestruck. I thought he would become one of the next greats coming into the NBA. When the Celtics drafted him - One of the teams I favored, I screamed "Boston 2008 NBA Champions!"
Then Green was traded to the Sonics, and the big 3 were assembled. Living in the Seattle area at the time, I grew to be a bigger Sonics fan, but I still followed the Celtics. When the Sonics moved, I weeped in my bed. But somehow I found myself that season watching every Celtic game, and before I knew it, I had already bought a Boston jersey and tie. I liked the Thunder for they had Green, so when he was traded back to Boston this season, all I could do is smile in my heart.
I like Marcus Smart

I am from Israel. I became a fan in the late 80’s when I was in high school.
Most of my friends were Lakers or Bulls fans; I guess they liked the more flashy style of game. I liked the hard work, hustle and history of the Celtics. (the fact the Red was Jewish also added to my Jewish pride)
I remember having a wall full of pictures of Bird, Parish, McHale and the rest of the gang that I got from magazines and daily newspaper sport section.

I am turning 21 in two weeks. I have been going to celtics games as long as I can remember. My mom starting getting me $10 balcony seats through her employee perks at mass general hospital starting back in like 2000. I remember going with her and my friends. My friends and I would always leave my mom in the balcony and sneak down to the loge section. After the game we would go down to the edge of the court and get autographs from whatever celebrities were there (Tommy, Mike, Lawyer Milloy, Ty Law, etc). At that time I was in like the 6th grade and just started playing on the basketball team for my school. My love for basketball was due to Paul Pierce, Antoine Walker, and the Boston Celtics.

From middle school to high school, me and all those friends I brought to the games followed the team religiously... EVEN through the tough years. 06-07 was one of the toughest seasons to have hope. But in the summer before my senior year of high school (2008), the big 3 was formed and my beloved Celtics were brought to a level that I had never seen before.

I love the Celtics and that will never change. Last week I went and purchased season tickets for the 2011-2012 campaign. It makes me so proud that 10 years after my mom would take me to those games that developed my love for the C's, I can now bring her and my dad and enjoy the #1 team in Boston that our family is 100% emotionally connected to.
