Remember Semih Erden? We actually won games with him... Is he a great center? No. Of course not.

Why it worked with Semih was because we have enormous offensive firepower, Semih fed off that. The defense also worked because our defense is team oriented, stemming from KG.

Pepole give Semih far too much credit.  He only started a few games.  The other games we won with him because we had Shaq starting and Rondo/Ray/Paul/KG/Shaq was the most dominate team in the league.  I think you could have filled in Sheldon Williams or Mikki Moore for Semih as the backup for that lineup and the results would have been the same.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Trade the 25th pick to New Orleans for Aaron Gray. He is big and solid as we saw in the Hornets-Lakers series before he sprained his ankle. He's fairly cheap at 2 mil (expiring too) and is still pretty young (turning 27 in December) so he can be part of the future with Rondo. He can be the perfect back up for JO.

The question though is will the 25th pick alone will be enough? Bet NO will hold on to him after his good performance. But it could be worth a try. Add some players and/or future draft picks maybe?

Ideally, we have 4 centers, at least 3, who will be with us for the whole season.

There are no great centers in the NBA.

Howard's good but I would not put him in the top 10 centers of all time.

Nope.  We didn't need Shaq either.  Perk was fine.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

we just need someone who can finish around the Rim...our offense clicked to another level with Shaq because he gave the Celtics the ability of dumping the ball in the post, or rondo penetrating and dishing...and him getting a layup or dunking it....This opened up our shooters...

Perkins(and JO to an extent) while a good defensive player had slippery hands, having to gather before going up for a dunk etc.

if we can find someone who can catch and slam it home, or finish at the Rim, I think it opens up our offensive opportunities similarly to last year because Rondo is such a good passer he can get his big man a pinpoint pass....Look at the Mavs with Tyson chandler. they always have the ability of throwing up an alleyoop to him or running pick and rolls for a dunk..

with our big 3 aging, we need someone who if they get doubled can catch it and slam it home or lay it in
