Is point-guard most overrated position in the NBA?

It's about having playmakers.  The position they play is irrelevent as long as he isn't a Center.  Centers simply can't lead quality teams in this league

It´s about maximizing the strengths of your best player. It´s what people mean when they say they want guys to run with Rondo, or why Rondo is not a good fit for the big three anymore. Just look at last season, and how bad the duo of KG and Rasheed was, offensively. The theory was that two big men with range would create a lot of space for our guards, when exactly the opposite happened.

  Rondo's a great fit with the big three. They'd be less effective without him.

This is only a half truth.

The Big 3 can be and are still effective without Rondo.

They just can no longer sustain that level of effectiveness for long durations like they used to.

The thing is, even with Rondo the above is true. It's when our Big 3 lose their sustained effective play and Rondo is not a true scoring point guard...this comes to hurt our team.

Also, I've seen the Big 3 play effectively with Nate Robinson as our starting PG and I do not doubt if Delonte West can stay healthy (a big "if"), the Big 3 can play just as effectively if West were the starter.

  The numbers certainly don't bear out your claims. They didn't during the regular season, and they didn't during the postseason. Every team in the league has streaks of good and bad offensive play, not just the Celts, and not just the Celts with Rondo. We've seen it from all of the teams that advanced in the postseason. But, still, the team (and PP and RA) are more effective with Rondo than without him.
