Apparently, he isn't expected to report to his Canadian Football League rookie camp because of interest from the Boston Celtics. While he hasn't played basketball since high school, he's clearly still an athlete - anyone at 340 pounds who can still play tackle at a high level is athletic and has quick feet. This might be nothing more than an extremely long-term project or minute interest from Danny Ainge, but 6'11 340 pounds with quick feet is always going to be intriguing, even if he hasn't played since high school. I guess if you spend your career learning how to block defensive ends, though, you should be pretty awesome at boxing out and playing defense, and dunking shouldn't be too hard at 6'11 340.

I like his pass blocking skills but he looks like he has to work on his run blocking.  Maybe Dante Scarnecchia could come to the Cs camp to work with him.... :D

No way.  We're going to pay him when we could give the same amount to someone who's actually played a high level of basketball in the past few years?  That just sounds like a poor move.
do it

Sounds to me like this kids' agent is just trying to up his payday by drumming up some "competition."

However, this kid seems to really have it together -- I wouldn't mind seeing someone in camp with his shelf of special awards, if only to  show our youngsters a thing or two.

Well, I would imagine they mean interest from the Maine Red Claws.

Who knows if he can play at all, but why not give him a tryout.

I think at the very least, it would be hilarious and he'd be an instant fan favorite if he ever got a call up from the D-league.

I think the Celtics learned their lesson with Thomas Hamilton.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

They are serious enough about him to invite him to workout tomorrow with the other PF's they have coming in.  The Barrie Examiner says that he traveled to Boston Tuesday and will try out with the Celtics on Wednesday.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
I think Mat O'Donnell has 6 hard fouls written all over him. Then again, so do so many other big men in this league.
I like Marcus Smart
