This kid is more intelligent and mature than 90+% of all the NBA players.  If we let this kid pass at 25, Danny ought to be hung from the rafters (that is a JOKE:-))!!

I know that someone else mentioned him and piqued my interest, so I listened to his 8 minute interview.  Kudos to whoever found him first!!  Sorry that I forget who that was:-((

Tyler is very raw.  He got no playing time in Israel, and in Japan, has been okay in limited minutes.  The problem is, he couldn't stop fouling or turning the ball over.  Also, against mediocre to bad competition, he didn't dominate.  That calls into question how he'd play in the NBA.

From what some have said, the physical gifts are there, so maybe he'll "get it".  I'm not expecting much from pick #25 in a weak draft, so if Danny gambles on him, I'll be fine with it.

Faried reminds me of Leon Powe

I knew the name sounded familiar. I read about him a couple years back on Redsarmy. It seems he was a cocky kid who was humbled by the overseas experience. Keep in mind this is from 09, so maybe he is as mature as he sounds now, but not a ringing endorsement for his character.

His coach calls him lazy and out of shape. The team captain says he is soft. His teammates say he needs to learn to shut up and show up on time. He has no friends on the team. In extensive interviews with Tyler, his teammates, coaches, his father and advisers, the consensus is that he is so naïve and immature that he has no idea how naïve and immature he is. So enamored with his vast potential, Tyler has not developed the work ethic necessary to tap it.

“The question is whether he’ll take responsibility of his career,” Haifa Coach Avi Ashkenazi said. “If he thinks he’s going to be in the N.B.A. because his name is Jeremy Tyler and he was a very good high school player, he will not be.”

So he leaves his senior season of HS as a big deal but gets a reality smack-down in Israel. Made some good steps in Japan under Bob Hill. A productive if flawed contributor (fouls & turnovers).

He has great size @ 6'10" 240lbs + his wingspan was biggest of the combine.

In this weak draft gambles like this make sense to me. The measurable progress he made with Bob Hill makes me think that mentorship, coaching and a stable environment could help him develop that talent. KG is his hero, might prove to be a good influence. Heck its the 25th pick what is there to lose?
