I think this is somethin we all know and have known but just didn't want to admit it to others and especially ourselves...  The Celtics just are not very good. I 'm not sure when it happened but at some point the Celtics went from a juggernaut that was the deepest team in the league to a very thin team team that is unsure of itself. My guess is the trade.

Now before you criticize me for blaming it on the trade listen up. When we came into the season we came in with a hungry team that had been together through wars and most had won a championship together. They had also faced a heart wrenching game 7 defeat. That team is no longer here.  Only four of those guys remain.  I had bee quiet about this on this hoard by to just have to say it.  Danny Ainge really outsmarted himself with his moves.

The NBA is not a fantasy league. You can't just plug in guys based on numbers and expect them to win.  Yes the trades made sense on paper but games are played on the hardwood.  These guys don't know eachother and guys who are getting big minutes don't have experience in these type of games or don't have a history of performing well there.

We are built on defense and toughness but that is no longer the case. We are soft down low Nd can't stop the penetration. Supposedly we are the best shooting team in the league and expert after expert says we can get good shots in the halfcourt but as someone who has watched thus team religiously that simply isn't true.  We struggle tremendously.

With all that said I will never stop cheering my team and will still represent no matter if we get swept.  The 4 original guys on this team have given me some of the greatest moments of my life. As I see guys like perk and Allen playing for other teams I can only wonder what would be of this team if we had maintained some continuity over these 4 years rather then trying to be wily every year. Whether we win this series or not, I don't think there is a ring in our future. But ill still be there on Saturday ready to cheer and either cherish the last momentary of an era or see the beginning of a comeback.  Sorry for the incoherent post but just a manner of venting after thus loss.

Soo are we still pretending that the trade deadline moves didn't ruin this team?

That's a prettyyyy big cooincidence that we started playing so poorly after those moves were made after playing phenomenal basketball in the first half of the season

Hey man, im completely with you.  The last four years have been great and hopefully we have a little fight left. But i will always love this team and even if we return to the glory days of 16 wins a year, im still gonna cheer my heart out for the guys in green.

If Danny had to do it over again, with the lockout looming (since the C's title window will certainly be closed after that), does he do the Perkins trade again?

I guess he´d trade the big three instead.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

I would have preferred to play with 7 players for a week, drop those games, then come back with the main players in our squad. Trade Marquis, and do the Semih-Harangody trade, and get our free agents. I could live with that.

Danny said last week that he would do it again. Krstic stinks and Shaq is hurt.  How can ANYONE defend that trade right now?  Someone should slap an Ubuntu sticker across Danny's face right now.

Bottom line is that Danny fixed something that wasn't broken.  It's not like an extra couple of million per season was gonna break the Celtic's bank. He got Rondo for a good price and he should have been content with that.
We all think we know more than we really do....

Oh lets save this melodramatic threads til' after the series is actually over.
The Heat were expected to hold their homecourt. Now we gotta hold off our own.

I've never really bought into the whole idea that our identity vanished with the Perk trade... but something has definately changed, and not for the better. With that said, they held their homecourt and now its our turn to do the same. Go C's

The thing that gets me is that we basically wasted 3 years of the big three. Why put these guys together and then cut corners on the players around them year after year. The arrogance of Danny ainge really gets me. It began by letting posey go, then Eddie house, powe, tony and perk. Then tryin to just insert guys at the end of the year like marbury, green and friends. Yes, only tony and perk are still relevant but I think the thing with this team was that they were always greater than the sum of their parts.

Looking back, I feel what youre saying.  However, many people thought we came into this season with the best bench in the league despite letting powe, tony, and eddie go.

Not being melodramatic but I've watched the NBA since I was 8. I've seen this time and time again.  It's the way things go in this league. I for one can live in the moment while putting things in perspective. Game three can be the beginning of a great comeback or the the end of an era. No point in jot realizing it.  I'm gonna enjoy watching these guys while they're still around.

Come on, half of those guys don't even play. Would you be happy paying 6 million to a washed up Posey?

I do agree that he could've done a better job in the 08-09 off season though.
