Ouch... my english skills are stinking more each day, as I'm reading this post and there are celticbloggers who won't be satisfied with less than a championship this year. I'm misunderstanding your posts, right?  :o

Come on, KG's knee injury is what has kept this group from three-peating. Back in 09 they were better than any team in the league, and with a healthy KG they repeat. Last season, with a 60% KG, they fought against the refs, against LeChoke, against Coward and his cheap elbow shots. The Orlando series was lethal for our health (Baby and Quis concussions, Pierce and KG with all the beating up, and Sheed's back), and still they reached the Finals, where Ray is hurt after the best 3-point performance in the Finals history (thanks Artest), and Perk blows out his knee in game 6. With all those injuries, through pain and all, they almost won #18, in a game that will be remembered for the "great" officiating job by Joey "MVP" Crawford.

This team is in the same level of the Cowens teams, and they still have a chance this year to win what they earned last year.

We better learn to enjoy what we're seeing. I remember very well when we were drafting Joe Forte, and the Pitino days, and the days when Montross was the "great white hope" for years to come. I love this team, and I'll enjoy their greatness every single game.

Next year, if everything goes well, will be the last chance. Not this year.

Go Celtics!!!

I'm happy!
Ainge brought the celtics back to relevance.  We got to enjoy a championship which most teams don't get even a chance at, a finals where we easily could have won another championship and a good playoff run with a fiery group missing kg.  I got to see pierce really come into his own as an all around player, enjoy ray for the first time since uconn and see what INTENSE really is w/ kg.  I saw the best celtics rookie since pierce (argue bird) in rondo.
I lived through the pre bird celtics and hung my head in shame when it was announced pitino was given the keys to the celtics.  As long as the celtics play hard I'm happy.  Winning it all is just icing on the cake.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
It really is a shame that KG suffered the injury halfway through this journey, we probably would have another 1 or even 2 banners and the Lakers would have 2 less.
I mean the Orlando magic got through to the finals...what a joke.
Was an easy year to win a flag and our bad luck was a real killer on the legacy of this team.
I honestly believe this team could be going for 4 straight if a few things had gone our way.
That being said we could've suffered even more injuries/bad luck so you have to take what you get.
I believe if we can get past the Heat that this will be our year.
The Lakers are nothing compared to last year- it's basically the Heat/Bulls standing in our way.
Really hope Shaq is ready to roll very soon to help the boys out.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

It is the end regardless of the outcome this Playoff Series. Danny will have to prepare to rebuild. Around what I don't know. I thought it was Rondo but better teams with an inside presence are aware of his style of play and defend him. He needs desperately an outside shot. Let's see what Rondo nets from a 1st round draft pick. He hasn't been right since Perk left.

It was a great run with the Big three, and I myself consider it a success....the only daint to it is the fact that the despised Fakers actually had 1 more than us and are still very much relevant for the next couple of years where as ours is just about to be over.  I sure hope DH does the right thing and stay away from LA. (Im fine if its the Clippers though)

  • It's all about the TEAM!
I've said it before and I'll say it again. When this team is finally gone, we are going to look back and really miss them. The collection of guys we've had in the past couple of years have made the Celtics a joy to watch. We went 20 years without a championship and they brought #17 to us and they ain't out of it for #18. Enjoy the Celtics as we know them while we have them. This team is a total success and they've made me proud again and again.

Yes, this team has been a success.

But, I do desperately want one more title.  I still think that's well within their grasp.

SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas

successful?  I suppose.  A disappointment, definitely.

I'm probably spoiled by having the opportunity to follow this team since Bird's rookie year and expecting multiple titles and great play night in and night out so with this group only gets the one title, I'll feel they underachieved.  Not so much the second year when KG went down and they gave it their all but certainly with the past 2 years when they've half-assed it through the second half of each season and can't seem to bring a full effort.

If they played hard every game, win or lose, I feel it would be a success.  I feel the past 2 seasons have been disappointments and a lack of a title this year would top off that disappointment.

I call any era that includes a championship ring a success.  However, it really suck that LA won two during our era

You could have put all this together and had built up "the perfect storm" and still not have won a title.

We were a quarter and a half away from 2 titles....
