The only thing the Thunder 'should have' done was given that Perkins money to Ibaka. You pay 21 yr old players like Ibaka that kind of money, not a Perkins.

I hope that doesn't come back to bite them come the future and the new cba.

It continues to amaze me that neither the fans nor the OKC team seem to miss Jeff Green or Nenad Krstic. They seem to be a much better team without these two soft players who are now property of the Boston Celtics.

Ibaka is signed through 2013-14

Exactly. How are they paying him going forward ? Especially when the new cba comes out. Ibaka, Westbrook, Durant, Harden........ I'll take any of those off their hands, as would most teams.

If Shaq and Jermaine were healthy, the Celtics wouldn't have missed Perk either.

With or without Green/Krstic, Ibaka, Harden, Westbrook, and Durant are no slouches. It pays to have crap years and then hit home runs with top picks in the draft.

This is so silly. Jeff Green was easily one of their team's (Oklahoma City's) most talented players. Not sure how people don't realize that.

Last I checked, Jeff Green, in all three games played thus far, has knocked down a number of big shots for us when we needed him to. Simply because he isn't giving us more points, isn't suddenly a reason to classify the guy as garbage. When will people learn that, sometimes, it isn't always about how many points you can give a team, but often times more about when you can give a team points. And Jeff Green has showcased a number of different times, that he isn't afraid or unable to take and make that much needed big shot that will give his team the lead for the first time in awhile, or that will further allow the Celtics to keep their momentum going, something which the team has all too often easily given up in the closing moments of the regular season.

Jermaine O'neal, with the points he scored in Game 3, were absolutely huge for this Celtics team. Even more important, however, was when he was able to give us those points. Chop away Jermaine O'neal's 6 points, and you probably have a Knicks team that is no doubt much closer to us than they were in that all important 4th quarter in game 3.

But take away Jeff Green's 9 points, and the Knicks team is even closer. They possibly end up putting Melo back in when the game is close, and we end up having to grind out another victory. Jeff Green, as much as he is getting crap, is one of the reasons for why we had the cushion that we did. We all know how important Rondo, Allen, Pierce were, but try not to forget how important the contributions of other players on the team were.

Kevin Garnett also gave us 9 points, and he played about 10 more minutes than Green did. And with how important rebounding the ball has become for this Celtics team, due to our struggles, Jeff Green's 4 defensive rebounds are a lot more important than some might be willing to admit.

People ever wonder sometimes how Kobe can score like 36 points, and his team lose by a margin of close to 10, but when he scores like 11 points, and doesn't take quite as many shots, his team wins in far more comfortable fashion against the same exact team?

That isn't a coincidence sometimes. It's not so much always about how many points you can give, but sometimes when can you actually manage to provide a team with those points, that can provide all the difference in the world.

There is more to the game than points.

I dont think half the people on this board even knew who Serge Ibaka was until he played beside Perk.
I did. Because his name kind of sounds like Chewbacca on tv.
Peace through Tyranny

I am by no means the biggest Jeff Green fan, and have been prefectly clear on where I stand on the "trade".  That being said, Green has far more upside as a 2nd/3rd scoring option going forward. Ibaka is a nice player, good defense/rebounding, but, is much more of the type of complimentary role player you get once your core is already established.  Basically, the reason Danny felt Perk wasn't worth keeping around.

If you get these type of players 1st, you prevent yourself from getting your bigger pieces due to salary constraints.

On a funny note: I like to refer to Serge Ibaka as "Sir Chewbacca".  Just sounds funny!

And his first name is pretty unique too.  Maybe he is named after the Bronson Pinchot character on Beverly Hills Cop.

EXACTLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I have been thinking the SAME THING since the trade day.   Yes,.......HARDIN would have been better. Or I would bave DEMANED Ibaka or forget the deal ...... agin DA screwed up, we had something they wanted REALLY BAD, so we should have taken one of those two.

I've been wondering if anybody else had thought about this.

Jeff Green has not delivered what the Celtics expected and for many fans has been a huge disappointment. If he is around next year, he certainly needs to play much better. However, I don't think soft players become tough and Jeff Green is soft.
