Doc almost never brings anyone back from injury without having a team practice first. Since the C's don't practice today (probably due to fatigue), it was obvious he wouldn't play tomorrow.

That. Is. A. Rumor.

A rumor? On Celticsblog? I AM SHOCKED AND APPALLED!

Come on, Doc always says that, but I don't believe him one word.

Are you accusing a coach of not telling the public exactly what the inner workings of his team? OUTRAGEOUS!

So? We don't need him. Why bring Shaq in, try to incorporate him into the scheme against a team we know we can sweep now?

Again, let him run with the team in practice and make sure he's ready for Miami series. B/c with Shaq and JO healthy, we can sweep Miami too
Can't stop, Rondo!

if all Shaq has left in him is 5 good minutes of basketball, I would save him for the heat series and have him go out with a hard foul on lebron that we'll never forget, but that's just me

So he's not ready yet, huh? I thought traveling to NY would be an indicator that he does play in Game 4?! So if we sweep the Knicks, I really hope he's ready for Game 1 against the Heat. If not, he's definitely done.

Very simply, if the Celtics lost game 3, shaq would have most likely played in game 4.
but after the celtics demolished the knicks, their is no point in shaq suiting up until the Miami series.

Hopefully we sweep them sunday so our whole team defiently gets a weeks worth of rest.

I think if Shaq could play he would even though we are up 3-0. It would be nice to get him out there for a few minutes to shake off the rust a little. There's more room for error to make mistakes against the Knicks than against Miami.

Save Shaq and get the bench to work its kinks out now. Shaq's rust is not an issue. Baby & Jeff & Delonte need an identity, an attitude, something. We miss Nate's absurd level of confidence.

Unleash Shaq to kill Miami in the paint.

I did this sig prior to the 2007-08 season, and I really forgot how I made the comic effect. I also don't know where to get high resolution portraits from nowadays.

Please enlighten me, which part is the rumor?

What Doc says and A. Sherrod Blakely's team reports seem to be pretty consistent.

Up 3-0 or 21, there is no way Shaq was playing tomorrow. Celts continue to play the smokescreen game with Shaq. I hope he can play against Miami, but I have my doubts. And, there is no way the Celts are sweeping Miami. Please.

Given the nature of Shaq's injury (calf strain - like what KG had earlier this year), I think if the C's sweep the Knicks and then have a week off until their next game, there's a good chance Shaq will be able to play throughout the series against the Heat.  This assumes that Shaq doesn't suffer any setbacks.

I think shaq'll be find just give him a few more weeks. In the mean time we'll cool off the heat and grill some cow on our way to the chip.

Come on, Doc always says that, but I don't believe him one word.

Doc always says that he won't play injured players until they prove in practice they're ready to play? I'd hope he does and actually goes by that mentality. Unless I missed something, that's essentially what Doc said in the article; Celtics didn't practice Saturday, Shaq didn't get to prove he was ready for game time. If Celtics win, Shaq'll have a whole week to prove he can play.

Plain. Simple. All I need to know. Maybe you need more than that, and that's fine, but unless Shaq actually goes through a full practice without limping, I'm ok with him not playing.
