Much as I hate to think it, the Heat looks pretty unstoppable right now...but you can never say for sure until it actually happens.   However, I find myself not caring much who wins, now that the Celtics are out.  (Rooting for Kendrick Perkins to get another ring, though.)

As far as next year, and the following years...who can say?  Injuries happen.  Disgruntled players happen...(look at Shak and Kobe).  Time for trite saying:  "Tomorrow is promised to no one."  After 2008 we thought we had formed a dynasty then injuries intervened.  Now some are saying that a shortened season will help the Celtics next year.  As they sang in "West Side Story"......."could be, who knows..."

After we got our Big 3 in 2007-2008 we won a chip, then the Lakers tried it too when they got Gasol and an improved Bynum...they won 2 chips.

Now Miami has their Big 3 and they are all younger than both the C's and the Lakers' Big 3.

Smart.

But - I'm believing that the Dallas Mavericks are smarter - and hungrier.

It seems as if Dallas is ready to finally take a Banner home this year. Any game where both Dirk and JT can go 10 for 33 and they STILL win - on the road - in OKC?

I could be wrong, but I doubt it in this case. Dallas will somehow find a way to beat OKC and MIA.

And through the journey - another player that I can't find any reason to dislike will gain a ring, and that's Dirk. He has been outstanding during this run.

I worry about the Mav's potential chances for the same reason the Bulls are struggling. Their offense is way to dependent on one great player, that's hard to sustain against a team that's playing great defense like Miami.

For everyone that thought the Celtics sucked for loosing to the Heat, this Chicago series is a solid confirmation that the Heat are just that good.

Apparently 2 superstars playing at the top of their game, along with a lesser all star and a bunch of solid role players are enough to shred the rest of the NBA.

The Miami defense is so suffocating. And the Heat shots are often so clutch.

Dallas has been impressive. But Oklahoma has been a disappointment. OKC are just too inexperienced, and limited offensively to be a legit title favorite. And thats OK. OKC has plenty of time to figure themselves out over the next couple years before the pressure really mounts.

Perk being much more active tonight.  Nice to see.  OKC playing  well.  It looked for a minute like Dallas was going to make a run (you know they have at least one run in them).  Maybe later.

Good job by Dallas to hang in there after the difficult start.

Hopefully, they can continue to keep this close + then make a run sometime in the second half and steal the lead. Close out the win. Go home up 3-1.

Perk looks just horrible.  A slow old nag on a team of race horses.

nba suspect refereeing conscientiously keeping teams in it 19-5 FT differential Mavs advantage. They don't want the game to get out of hand and have a blowout. Therefore 4th quarter becomes meaningful.

Peja blew by Perk off the dribble in the first quarter. That is how slow Perkins is at the moment.

I think this has been one of his better days (recently) though. Possibly his best game in the series so far.

Made a couple of nice passes, cut well to the basket, finished at the hoop, good screens as always. Defensively, he is been fairly mixed. Some good plays, some bad. Had a nice block on Tyson Chandler early on to stop an easy dunk. Perk hasn't done much on the boards but both teams have been shooting lights out so there haven't been many rebounds.

I thought Westbrook forced the issue too much in the first half. Took a lot of bad shots. A few poor turnovers too.

He needs to tighten things up in the second half. Be willing to make a few more passes. His teammates have been shooting very well in the first half. No need to force low percentage shots (not when they are making theirs).

13 shots for Westbrook and 8 for Durant?   Start a different point guard in the second half.

Actually, Perk has been playing brilliantly.  But when you do the stuff that doesn't show in the stats, like being all over the place on defense, folks just don't notice, and they call a workhorse an old nag.  Funny how that used up ole workhorse got deeper into the playoffs than the team that couldn't wait to get rid of him did.
