  • Rondo = Good
Mark Jackson, for once, said something very poignant -

(paraphrasing)

"Some nights, he absolutely looks like a top 5 point guard.  Other nights, you tell somebody he's a top 5 point guard, they'll say, no way.  No way."

I can't disagree with Mr. Jackson on this one.  In certain games (like the one this afternoon) Rondo doesn't even look like a starter-caliber point guard, let alone an All-Star.

Rondo is far too inconsistent, far too flawed.  He cannot carry this team, and as long as the Celtics depend on him to be their best player they are in serious trouble.

Agreed.  There are so many holes in this team.  After a 1st or 2nd Round exit it's going to take these moves to make us contenders again:

1. Replace Doc Rivers - He is incapable of using a bench of former starters to optimize offense.

2. BBD needs to be traded.  It's time.

3. Green needs to start.

Sick of Rondo.
Celtics' turn on switch for the playoffs: the last bastion of hope for battered Celtic fans.

I agree... and that's why I don't think he is.

Agreed. Two months ago I would have said "you are nuts, he is the future!" and I thought his inconsistency was vanishing but now... way too flawed and most importantly he is too weak mentally. His mentality of taking games off, being scared of attacking, shooting FTs, his stubborness, etc... are all reasons why he is not a franchise player or a guy you build a team around. Too many flaws, they outnumber his qualities.

  • GOT IT!!!
We are going to find out for sure starting next week. C's will struggle to win the first round if he doesn't show up.

These are the real issues...if you don't see it I don't know what to tell you.

Who would you start Green over?

Who said Rondo was going to be our best player going foward?

He's certainly should be a piece of the future though, which is fine with me.

If Rondo is even the second best player on the team going forward, we're in trouble.  Rondo is clearly best suited to be the 3rd or 4th wheel on a team.  He doesn't have the physical or mental fortitude to carry (or even lead) a team, or even really to be one of its best players.

If this is really Rondo's team now, and a team takes on the characteristics of its best player (as is often the case), then I think what we're seeing on the court is the result of the team taking on Rondo's characteristics.  He is not fit to lead a good team.

Ainge traded the wrong guy. Imagine somehow Celtics netted Chris Paul in the deadline. Celtics would be formidable for years.

I think that's an overreaction. He's clearly shown, especially in the postseason, that he can be the teams best player (or second/third best) and leader on the court.

I mean I think we'd be in trouble if we relied on him to be the best player all the time, but he certainly can be one of them.

Yeah with Perkins and CP3's knees, we'd certainly have a healthy future...

I agree 100%. Rondo continues to play like a chump since the trade. He is playing with no heart, no intensity, and needs to be packaged in the offseason if he doesn’t change his attitude in a hurry. It is one thing to be going through a slump, but when it is self-inflicted due to being unhappy with a trade, he needs to be dealt with. Sit him for the next two games and start Delonte and have Arroyo back him up.

Knee injuries aren't back breakers. Kevin Garnett is jumping around like its 2006. Chris Paul carrying his to the playoffs in the difficult west. Tony Allen is back to his former self. Perkins had a fast recovery. he was back in 7 month period.
