Don't do it man.  Facebook either.  If you just want to see what celebrities are doing then I've got nothing to say to you.  If you want unconfirmed sports news rumors go ahead.

If you want to be social then be with people, not your computer.
OR..

If you're like 99% of the rest of the country and you have friends/family all over the place it can be a great way to keep in touch without being on the phone all day. (facebook I mean, not twitter...twitter is stupid except for the sports news you can get there :P And even then it's all over the web 5 minutes after it hits twitter anyways)

Ugh, I hate kelly dwyer with a passion lol.

Steve Nash is actually really funny too I follow him as well.

That's a good list of people to follow too. I like to follow Jalen Rose, Jackie McMullan and the PTIshow/AroundTheHorn/Jim Rome shows

but like I said earlier, once the trade deadline was over I pretty much stopped using twitter altogether. I could care less who is eating where and how ashton kutcher and tom hanks feel about the most recent american idol vote off

Jackie Mac is a good one...I'll try Jalen Rose too, thanks.

Dwyer is a new one for me..mostly so far its been mostly personal stuff, so I might 'unfollow' him.

Eh, I get facebook, but haven't gotten caught up in Twitter yet. on FB, you get to stay in touch with friends and family all over the place that you might not necessarily keep up with (and people you don't care much about). I kind of get it for sports reporters, but don't really see why people need their own account to tell frivolous details about themselves and follow celebrities and act like they know them.

I used to feel the same way about twitter. I've found that there are two really key elements:

1) It can act a bit like a universal rss reader..where you pick out your favorite reporters, and they tell you up to the min stuff, and link to articles you might not see otherwise.

2) Completely unfiltered fan/author interaction. Its kind of like one big 24 hr chat. Some are more accomodating than others, but still...viable.
