It is interesting that some believe the players are "making stuff up" and just saying these things for the sake of saying them. They clearly have no identity right now. They clearly do not know who they are. Just watch them play. And, to depend on Shaq coming back, being healthy, and contributing at a high level -- that's a bet that I wouldn't take.

Danny blew up the team 2/3 of the way through the season and my guess is that the team and the fans will pay for this in the end.

He blew up the team by trading Perk? You mean the Celtics haven't been better since, and that's it. Calling the trade "blowing up the team" is an exaggeration, plain and simple.

He traded 5 guys, not just Perk. And again, for the millionth time and what I have been saying from the beginning, it is not the specific players who were traded, but the fact that they changed almost 50 percent of the roster with fewer than 30 games left to play. And, I will add that the new guys really have not had a huge, positive impact on this team.

He traded away one player that was likely to be part of our playoff rotation.

Right but out of the 5 guys that he traded, 4 of them were injured or not contributing.  And I know your big problem is that he brought in too many new guys so late, but where would we be if we were left with one healthy body instead of the guys we got back.  Wouldnt we be in even worse shape?

My guess: If they had not traded Perk they would have ended up the 3 seed, which is exactly where they are going to be when this season ends.

I think I will give up trying to explain why I think the trade may have killed the team's chances this year.

So then what did you want Danny to do?

Not trade Perk. Make another trade to get a guy to back up Pierce. Simple.

  • No contaban con mi astucia !!!
Rondo is an nba asssit leader
Ray is the best shooter to ever play the game
Pierce is the capitan
KG is the deffensive force
Shaq is a big center

DW is my bow
Jeff green is the best 8th man in the league
JO is playing very good
BBD is probably the best 9th man in the league
Kristic is the best 10th man in the league

Doc is actually screwing a little on that rotations hes playing
you wont find an identity playing BBD that much
all i have to say
and dont tell me i am venting on BBD
just he have to start playing something else if this isnt working
like DW 40 mins a game for example ;)

Now the only have to listen to me and start playing

Ok. If your argument was "we need Perk" you might have something, but I don't see how calling Perk, an out for the year Marqis, Nate, Luke and Semih "nearly 50% of our roster" adds anything to your argument.

Ok but you're saying that the trade killed this team because they traded away "50% of the roster" when they still would've had to do that regardless of whether Perk was gone or not. We still would've had to incorporate 3-4 new guys due to all of our injuries.

I see what they're talking about.  Jeff Green looks like he's still trying to fit in, and good teams seem to be able to exploit our softness in the middle with Jermaine on limited minutes and Shaq being injured.  If we're healthy I think the rotation will be shorter and the identity of the team will be much more definitive.

There are certainly concerns on the court.  But this is all lipservice by Doc.

I am not going to be too concerned until I see them in the playoffs (and see who is actually on the floor in the playoffs).

Judging anything from play (or quotes) at this point in the season is tough, because there are so many other factors.

The one thing I know for sure though is that Bulls team is going to be tough for anyone to beat.  I don't think they are the most talented team in the league, but if last night is any indication, they are executing at an extremely high level, and any team that beats them are going to have to match that level.

The C's are absolutely capable of it.  But this is going to be a very tough test.

Yeah the identity issue is that they just need Shaq back and/or JO on the floor longer.

And then when the playoffs hit, the C's will have their full playoff energy.

Vinnie, I know you wish we could go back in time and do a do-over on the trade. I think I would be in favor of that too. But... Whats the point in complaining about it everyday? We all hear you. And most probably agree with you.

When you consider that Danny swapped out 1/3 of the team at the trade deadline, the struggles should be expected.  They are missing a presence in the middle and hopefully Shaq will be healthy for the playoffs or else everyone else, especially the bigs will have to step it up.  JO zero rebounds,  Big Baby and Krstic 3 rebounds. That won't cut it in the playoffs.  Rebounding takes some effort and obviously they didn't have it last night.  Our starting center should not have zero rebounds.
