ok, more math

anyone have some splits on our record vs. the top title contenders? (Lakers, Bulls, Heat, Spurs, Mavs, Magic?)

are we the best against those teams?

I looked this up a day or two ago to compare how we did vs. contenders with and without Shaq.

Total I believe it is:
Lakers: 1-1
Bulls: 2-1
Heat: 3-0
Spurs: 2-0
Mavs: 0-2
Magic: 2-1

So 10-5 for the teams you listed.  We're also 2-0 vs the Hawks and 1-0 vs the Melo-Knicks.  I know we were number 1 last time I saw the rankings of this stat but I think the Bulls were 2nd and I don't know if they've passed us.  I'm pretty sure the Heat and Lakers are still the two worst contenders vs contenders.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

folks may wish to double check, but a quick glance of the celtics schedule showed the following:

Wins - Loses
Dallas 0 -2 (c's lost by 2 pts and 4 pts)
LAL 1 - 1
SA 2 - 0
Miami 3 - 0
Chicago 2 - 1
Orlando 2 - 1
TOTAL 10 - 5

pretty darn good. let hope the celtics keep it up.

DANG!!! i was 7 minutes too slow!!!!  :P

Elite teams vs elite teams, if you have .500 record or better, you got a good shot to win that playoff series.

We should win our playoff series 4-2 in most cases.

Yeah, because our record against the Cavs and Magic last year really demonstrated the predictive power of this metric.
