I was wondering, after Shaq went down and before Perk came back, the Celtics started BBD. Our Interior defense was still great. I think the problem (other than Rondo) is our interior defense is SOFT!!!! Would it benefit the Celtics to start BBD instead of Kristic? Now saying that, once Shaq comes back, We all know that Kristic will go back to the bench.
Let me know what you think about starting BBD, instead of Kristic, which might make it a smoother transition when Shaq comes back into the starting lineup?
I think if we move BBD into the starting lineup, he knows both systems compared to Kristic who has only 3-4 weeks of this new system. PLUS he's gonna have to get used to playing off the bench when Shaq comes back...
Originally when Shaq was out we started JO, the games when both O'Neals were out and before Perk got back we started Semih. Baby started 9/10 of his games subbing for KG, and I think the other (only) game where he started at C was when we only had 8 guys and the big rotation consisted of Baby, KG, and Chris Johnson.
Also in those games with Baby manning the paint with Shaq or Semih the interior defense wasn't exactly that strong. And do you remember what he did to the offense? When he decided he was suddenly a better jump shooter than Paul and Ray and lead the team in FGA in at least 6 or 7 of those 9 games? And don't forget that he was averaging like 3 or 4 boards in about 38 minutes, or the dreaded loss in Chicago where he went 4-17. OR the game (i think it was NO) where down 3 in the final possessions he hoisted a trey with time left on the shot clock?
You can probably tell I'm not the biggest fan of starter Baby (unless it's the 2009 playoffs and he's hitting buzzer beating game winners, dropping KG-level F-bombs, and then knocking over little kids).
