Moss seems to perform well above expectations when he's motivated. If the Patriots signed him he'd be extremely motivated and he'd perform well the first season he's here. Throw him a one year contract and see him tear it up.

You honestly think he'd be happy with a one year vet minimum?

I'm sure he'd say he was, at first. But 3 games in of marginal to good production he'll be whining about the deal and want it reworked to show him respect.

DO.NOT.WANT

Yes, because as it is he's not going to get a contract that he wants considering he pushed himself out of New England and performed terribly with the teams he played with last season. With a one year contract he'll have a chance to land his last big contract. I'm positive he'd be on his best behavior because of those circumstances.

Then why wasn't he on his best behavior in Minn? he didn't have any incentive there after being traded in a contract year with a chance to up his stats?

Nope, he bashed his coach and insulted a local food vendor in such a callas and moronic way that he was cut.

How about Tenn, after being declared nearly untouchable in a contract year by the entire NFL with only one team claiming him? nope, he called up a talk radio station and bashed his head coach.

The man is a narcissist with an inflated view of his role and talents at this juncture of his career. Normal rules do not apply.

I'm not sticking up for Moss, so don't get me misunderstood. Tennessee and Minnesota were going absolutely nowhere and Moss knew that. Randy Moss is the stereotypical "front-runner" who performs well when he has a good QB throwing to him and a team that's performing well. I think we can all agree with that. As a player, he'd be dynamite here for one year with a great team, a great coach and QB, all of whom he respects the most out of anyone in the league. The Patriots should and probably will take a serious look at him.

Oh I know, I'm just struggling to grasp why last year, with every reason to play out of his mind and secure a long term contract, he couldn't keep it together but now he;ll be able too.

I don't buy that. He is about randy, first and foremost. He had every reason to be on his best behavior last year, at all three stops. Namely, $$$.

He couldn't even force himself to do it for one year. Plus, he has one skill, going deep, that has been eroding since 2008. He can't run past people anymore, and he has no other aspect of his game to adapt with.

I agree we need a deep threat to keep teams honest and off the short passing game, but I'd rather draft/aquire someone else.

He just isn't worth it, on any level. The team was dramatically better with him gone, I fail to see how re adding him helps us. Another deep threat, ok. Randy? no thanks.

If he is willing to take a small salary, this will give us a good look into what really went down last year.  If they bring him back, I think we can really take all the comments about him being a good teammate as the truth and not spin.  But, if they refuse to bring him back, it will go a long way to confirm that he really was a problem child.

I think he considers himself a good teammate, and i don't dispute that he's a fun guy to have on your team and I doubt he's an active cancer in the locker room when unhappy.

The thing is, and this is what was killing us this year, if you don't make him the focal point of your offense, he pouts and doesn't contribute. I don't even think it's vindictive, it's just who he is.

As CMAN said, that used to be fine, because he was randy flipping moss in his prime, who wouldn't want to throw to him 10-12 times a game?

But now, in order to get any value out of him by having him be involved in the game, you have to force it to him. See: the first 4 games.

With his age catching up with his skill, that's not a good way to run an offense, espically a modified west coast offense with a QB who's strength has always been not forcing it and hitting the open man.

That's why they were so good post trade. Talentwise they stayed the same/ took a hit depending on how far you think Moss has fallen. but TEAM wise they exploded, because tom didn't have to worry about feeding randy the ball to make sure he ran a decoy route once in awhile.

I think it's kind of similar to AI, on just this level: He does not have a skillset nor mentality that can be adapted to a role player mentality as he enters the twilight of his career.

You have a better chance of seeing Sheed back in green than you do with Moss in a Pats jersey again.

Draft Julio Jones and sign Moss to a 1 year contract... I know it's crazy but I think Moss would be  good mentor, like Chris Carter was to him.

I just think this year would be totally different than last year when he forced himself out of New England. Everyone thinks it's always greener on the other side. I loved the trade involving Moss (as did Felger obviously), but it noticeably affected their offense in the playoffs. Has Moss ever publicly praised a team and QB.. ever? Just think about how his reputation would take even a deeper dive if he had an attitude on a one year contract with a team that he's already had problems with. Honestly, if that happened then he'd probably be out of the league.

Are you insinuating that the NFL's ultimate narcissist and pre-eminent drama queen isn't a good QB?  How dare you?

After experiencing the gunslinger at his finest...How could Moss ever want to go back to a pedestrian QB like Tom Brady?
