I don't think he has all-star talent. Luol Deng has never made an all-star game before. Green isn't better, nor will he be better than Deng. I do think Green can be better than he is now. I've been satisfied with Green's defense thus far. I think he's making a solid effort. But I haven't been impressed with his rebounding. For a guy with his size and length, he needs to be more aggressive on the boards. He has a nice enough stroke, but he is not a three point shooter. I'd like to see him down in the post a lot more than he goes down there.

I think Jeff Green, when he realizes his potential, can be a little be of a cross between a poor man's Deng and Odom, which I don't think is really a bad thing. I like the kid on this team. I'm a fan. But he's also a hard player to utilize. I have faith it will all come together though.

A poor-mans deng? Dengs career averages 15/6
Jeff Green is at 15/5

If anything they are closing to being even, if you consider Green is a SF playing at the PF spot being overmatched every single game, we cant judge how he would be his entire career if he was used properly.

Green is more athletic then Deng, but can also play 2 positions, Deng can only play the 3.

He can definately be better then Deng in my opinion. They have the same career stats which is telling.

I was going to quote the exact same stats.
Deng is more consistent (especially this year) but green has the potential to become a top five 3 spot in the NBA in my opinion.

His stats are not correct. They are a little bit off. And a top five small forward? Really? LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Paul Pierce, Carmelo Anthony, and...Jeff Green? Come on. Be serious.

Ok well top 10.
He has never played the 3 spot before. I beleive he has the athleticism to be top 10- definitely top 5 in the eastern conference. He has the jumpshot and the ability to get to the hole. He has never had a chance to play his true position in the NBA.
I think he could easily become a 22-25 PPG player if he was given the ball as a focus offensive player like paul pierce.

I don't really like Green, I don't think he's that good TBH.

I want Ainge to trade him this offseason to the Clippers, and we get Kaman and their 1st pick from minnesota.

The Clippers need a SF, we need a Center. Our own clipper pick could be kept by the Clippers if they're still in the lottery, that twolves pick is not guaranteed to be number 1 pick anyway, plus it's the clippers, they like to save money so we send them JO and cash to buy him out and avery bradley and they also send us foye.

We need scoring off the bench.
Dunno how many guys like green go around. (he is only going to get better offensively and defensively).
Not too many guys who are 6 ft 9 and can move and shoot like him. Give him a bit of time to grow into our system and to grow at the 3 spot.

I don't see it.  He's much, much worse at rebounding than Jamison, and is already a superior defender.

And who made the Worthy comparison?  Let's not saddle this kid with HOF expectations.  He's never even received serious consideration for an all-star game yet.

Terry Cummings with longer range and better defense and open court skill.

BTW, Hoopsworld posted a question on "How Can Green Contribute?"

I guess he should strive to outdo (scoring, assisting and rebounding)the production averages of PP or Ray.

I think that he needs to be coached. He has skills but they aren't matched yet with intensity. He can learn alot from Pierce. His defensive feet are very poor. Hopefully he can be coached up.

Give him a bit of time to grow into our system and to grow at the 3 spot.

as well as some time to adjust to his role as an off-the-bench player.

I can't pick a player for comparison -- too early for that -- but right now he is in a potentially ideal situation.  His role is to be the best 6th man in the league.  BBD is ahead of him right now, but that will likely change next year.
Celtics fan for life.

Modern day Derrick McKey.

Talented player that puts ups numbers less then capable of, but it is a sacrifice to help the team win.

Good defender and capable scorer.

I think Jeff's game reminds me a lot of Sean Elliott's game before he had the kidney transplant.  I also like the McKey reference.

don't know but I'm interested to see it play out in Boston

I've already been impressed and frustrated with him at times and I think that is a first impression that might last, but I could see real value in him going forward.
