I agree, I think there isn't a lot of pressure on Perk. He will continue playing excellent interior defense and putting up minimal stats, and that will be okay.

I do think that there is a ton of pressure on Green, though. Like it or not, he is the reason Perk isn't here anymore and a lot of people are upset. He doesn't exactly have an alpha personality, so he just needs to find his niche. He is actually playing a little better than I thought he would this early. The more he plays, the more he will fit in.

I kinda disagree with that. There is definitely pressure on Perk to perform now and in the playoffs. He is the one that got the big contract for an extraordinary amount of money considering his skillset and health. If you're the OKC front office and you offer an ACL guy money like that you want big rebounds, blocks, and really good defence.

Tonight that wasn't there. Obviously time will tell.

Perk may have gotten an extraordinary contract for a mechanic or an accountant or a nbdl player but what he got was pretty much in line with what other players of his ilk get.

Very few players of his ilk left. His Ilk was ten years ago.

They don't necessarily need him to get rebounds or blocks. They just need to see really good defense when he is in. And they probably need to see him play more minutes.

I was one of the few all for the trade when it happened. I know this is blasphemy but I never really liked Perk. He had his moments, but i've been yearning for a slightly taller, more traditional type of center, which we have in shaq and krstic. Certainly not going to miss his 4 inch vertical :P

he got posterized bad by d-wade tonight it was funny.

Perk jumped after wade and landed well before wade even started to throw down the dunk
Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

He provides the physical defenseive presense they've lacked, and he did so effectively tonight.

Obviously they will want him to be able to play more minutes, but his production in those 19 minutes was excellent.

Im not sure what you guys were watching but 6 personal fouls against a paper thin front court and a couple of rebounds and one bucket in 19 minutes is a terrible game.

Not saying that he should be any better at this point coming back from injury, but if any of our healthy centers had a game like that you would be calling them out.

Yep.  Perk had little to to with their win last night.

In my limited opportunities to watch that game, Perkins was indeed fairly ineffective.

But again, he's clearly not healthy. I doubt, at this point, that he's going to be completely healthy any time soon. Some of you have been far too cavalier about dismissing the severity of his ACL.

And he's beginning his official transition into Brooks' system, such as it is.

One game is rather meaningless in the evaluation of this trade, one way or another. I'm still thrilled with the value Danny got in this deal, and I really don't expect to see anything to change my mind going forward.

If you've watched OKC, however, I think you'd see that the team has a confidence on the defensive end that they have not had before.

how much Perk has to do with that is certainly debatable but we do know that attitude and confidence are things that Perk brings to the table.

Yeah sure definately not doubting that. I loved mentally what Perk had going here, but basketball is about an individual contributing to a team by making plays, not giving off a mental aura.

I think people are selling Ibaka's performances on the defensive end short by attributing defensive improvements to Perk. Recently Ibaka has really been imposing himself on oppositions and pulling off good block numbers. Stuff like that is more important than the mental side of things.
