I'm getting really frustrated with how all of the pro-trade people are acting like everybody who disagrees with them is disagreeing because of some far-fetched "emotional attachment" to Perkins.

Listen, the trade sucked because it sucked. I feel like I'm speaking for a lot of people when I say that I'm a Celtics fan first and foremost, and I always want what's best for the team. My assessment of the trade has been in that light. I keep things impartial when I'm evaluating players.

Perkins is a better player than Krstic. And when Perkins gets paid this summer, we'll see whether or not the free market agrees with me.

I think you need to get an update on NBA news. Perk already got paid. And as a recent poll suggests, not many at the moment think the trade sucks.

Some interesting Nenad as Celtic facts (maybe contributing to the outbreak of Nenad enthusiasm):

Nenad is scoring at a nearly identical per-minute rate to KG and Ray.  And his 63TS% is actually better than both of them (just a hair over Ray's, a decent lead on KG).  Thus far in his 5 game Celtic career, he has been an interchangeable 2nd/3rd/4th option with KG and Ray after Pierce.

He's doing the majority of his damage in the paint, where he's converting at a 72% rate on 5.7 attempts per 40.  He's taking far fewer long range Js than he was with OKC (a little over half as many on a per minute basis), though he's converting them at a lesser rate. He's also getting to the line a ton, more than tripling his FT rate from OKC.

His stats with the Celtics (I know this is a very small sampling size but I'm just having fun) closely mirror the stats he was putting up in his last healthy year with J Kidd and Jersey.  Similar shot distribution, efficiency, scoring volume and a host of other stats.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Perk will get paid.  But he wasn't going to get it here.(edit; as pointed out below he already got paid)  Yes, he's a better player than Krstic, but Green is a heck of a lot better than Nate, and Krstic is fitting in great.  Is there no value in getting something that's going to do for now, and be better in the future?
Yup

HE is a good backup . I hope Danny and Doc save the O'Neals right up to play offs.

Then sorta DROP a atomic bomb by saving them both , keep em healthy  and  BAM !!!right on top of the Lakers head.

Ps.... Perkis young, but moves like a 4o year man already, I don't think he can run the court and keep up with those young guys and will be a liability mostly. He was awkward and clumsy to start with , not that he has two bad legs ...what good is he???

But Perk wasn't traded for Krstic. He was traded for Jeff Green. And a 1st round pick from a mediocre team (Clips). And dumping Nate Robinson (yes dumping him -- that's what the Cs wanted to do). AND Krstic.

That's the standard you should judge the deal on.

If during this off season, Krstic dedicated himself to gaining 30 pounds of muscle and learning how to play defense, he would be leagues and bounds better then Perkins.

Hard work beats skill...until skill works hard.

Krstic has the skill to be better then Perkins. The guy has as complete an offensive game as you would want from a big man. He is finesse.

Maybe, but I don't think he'll ever be the rebounder or defender that Perk was.  Also, of course, adding 30 pounds of muscle (presumably without steroids) while also learning brand new technique is easier said than done.

I disagree that defense is all hard work and no skill.

Krstic already struggles to move quick enough to be an NBA center. Adding 30 lbs of muscle, which isn't exactly easy at his age, would only make things worse for him.

Plus it'd be more weight on his knees....

It doesn't even matter what people think. The trade happened. Now people can either learn to deal with it or not. All I know is that I'm sleeping easy these days and so are Danny Ainge and the rest of them. Time to move on people. Perk's gone and he'll never be coming back.

It is my opinion (it may not be yours) that the forums are a place for respectful discussion of the pros and cons of various moves by the Celtics.  If we all agree on every item, there would be no need for the forums.

anyone still think that Perk is as good/almost as good as Kristic offensively?

I love the hustle he is giving on the offensive boards . He can hit shots from just about anywhere on the floor 18 feet and in. He also uses up fakes effectively to get the foul and the hoop.

He is going to be an awesome weapon to use off the bench when Shaq gets back.

First paragraph in the OP...read it:

First things first, let me say that Nenad Krstic's offense has been very good.  For a guy who hasn't learned the system yet, he's played very well.  I don't think anybody can criticize him much for what he's done on the offensive end of the floor, and that includes his offensive rebounding, which has been a very pleasant surprise.

This thread is about his weak defensive rebounding and his defense in general.
