Green interested in re-signing with Celtics

I think it's likely Boston will look to extend Green, but they may give him an offer low enough that he won't accept it (Danny's M.O.).  But we didn't trade for him as a rental; Danny is looking for an heir apparent at the wing, and part of our future core with Rondo.

I don't know what I think of Green on the Celtics at this point; he's clearly not comfortable yet and hasn't shown a whole lot.  But from what I've seen, he has the ability to be a much more complete and efficient player than I saw in OKC.  Jeff Green will never be Paul Pierce but their builds and games are similar enough that I could see Green learning a lot from Pierce.

Danny was pretty clear in his interview that we could lose Jeff Green after this season if the new CBA pans out unfavorably in this regard....

Oh sure.  If there's one thing you can say about Danny, it's that he doesn't tend to bowl guys over with his contracts.  It's possible Green will get a huge offer somewhere else and that'll be that.  The trade is a sunk cost now and we shouldn't overpay for Green just because we gave up Perk for him.  I'm pretty confident management feels the same.

I just think they're hoping to keep him and tentatively planning on it as part of the long-term vision for the team.
